Easy Country Micro Wedding – Michele and Shawn

Easy Country Micro Wedding in the Smoky Mountains

Michele and Shawn – May 19, 2026

There’s something incredibly special about an easy country micro wedding in the Smoky Mountains — the kind of wedding day where everything feels relaxed, meaningful, and centered around the people who matter most. Michele and Shawn’s spring wedding at Chapel in the Hollow was exactly that kind of celebration.

Their wedding day was filled with sentimental family moments, romantic red roses, warm sunshine, and beautiful little details that told the story of who they are together. 💍✨

From the emotional first look with Michele’s sons to the heirloom diamond passed down from her mother, every part of the day felt deeply personal and full of heart.

A Romantic Country Wedding in the Woods

For their ceremony décor, Michele and Shawn chose black and red fabric paired with our lantern package and rich red rose florals, creating the perfect blend of romantic elegance and country charm. 🌹🕯️

The deep red roses stood out beautifully against the soft spring greenery of the Smoky Mountains, while the lanterns added a warm, cozy glow to the chapel space beneath the trees.

One of the things couples love most about getting married at Chapel in the Hollow’s outdoor wedding venue is how customizable the space can feel. Whether couples want something whimsical, rustic, bohemian, dramatic, or simple, the forest backdrop adapts beautifully to every vision.

For Michele and Shawn, the black and red details gave the entire day a timeless romantic feel while still fitting naturally into the Smoky Mountain landscape.

A Bridal Look Full of Sentimental Details

Michele looked absolutely stunning. 🤍🦋

She wore a spaghetti strap cream gown paired with a medium-length veil adorned with butterflies that floated beautifully in the spring breeze. Her look felt soft, romantic, and deeply personal.

She added the cutest butterfly mini gloves along with white chunky heels that gave her bridal style a fun, modern touch while still feeling elegant.

But one of the most meaningful parts of her look was the jewelry she wore from her mother.

Family heirlooms always add such emotional depth to wedding days, and you could tell these pieces meant so much to her. Those little touches often become some of the most cherished parts of a wedding because they connect generations of love together in one moment.

A Groom Style That Matched the Mood Perfectly

Shawn kept his wedding-day look classic and timeless in black pants and a black dress shirt, perfectly complementing the dark romantic atmosphere of the day.

The simplicity of his outfit fit beautifully with the relaxed nature of their micro wedding while still feeling polished and intentional.

And honestly, the way these two looked at each other all day said far more than any outfit ever could. 🥹

They were completely wrapped up in the excitement of finally getting married.

Emotional Family Moments Throughout the Day

One of the things we love most about intimate weddings is how much space they create for emotional family moments.

Before the ceremony, Michele shared a sweet first look with her three sons, and it was one of those moments that instantly gets everyone emotional. 💛

The pride and love on their faces was impossible to miss.

Then, when it was time for the ceremony, her eldest son had the honor of walking her down the aisle to Shawn — another meaningful touch that made the day feel incredibly personal and family-centered.

At Chapel in the Hollow, we see so many couples intentionally designing weddings around connection instead of production, and Michele and Shawn’s day was such a beautiful example of that.

Rings Filled with Legacy and Love

One of the most sentimental details of the entire wedding was Michele’s ring. 💍

The couple exchanged specially made rings during the ceremony, but what made Michele’s ring especially meaningful was that the center diamond came from her mother’s ring.

There’s something incredibly beautiful about carrying pieces of family history into a new marriage.

It transformed the ring from simply a piece of jewelry into a symbol of legacy, love, and continuity between generations.

Those are the kinds of details that make weddings unforgettable.

Spring Portraits in the Smoky Mountains

After the ceremony, we captured family photos at the chapel before heading out around the property for portraits with the newlyweds. 📸✨

One of the best parts about a micro wedding at Chapel in the Hollow is having access to so many beautiful portrait locations without ever needing to leave the property.

For Michele and Shawn’s portraits, we explored:

  • The wooded road
  • The mountain-view field

And May absolutely showed off for them that day.

The East Tennessee greenery was vibrant and lush, the sunshine warm and glowy, and the mountains in the distance created the dreamiest backdrop imaginable.

Spring weddings in the Smokies have this incredible freshness to them. Everything feels alive again after winter, and the soft natural light creates the most romantic atmosphere for wedding photography.

Michele’s butterfly veil caught the breeze beautifully throughout portraits, and the warm spring sunshine gave everything a golden glow that made the entire day feel almost cinematic.

Southern Micro Wedding in the Smoky Mountains – Hannah and Cory

Southern Micro Wedding in the Smoky Mountains

Hannah and Cory – May 16, 2026

There’s something timeless about a southern micro wedding in the Smoky Mountains — the soft mountain air, the quiet beauty of the woods, the warmth of family gathered close, and the feeling that every moment actually matters. Hannah and Cory’s wedding at Chapel in the Hollow captured all of that perfectly.

Their spring wedding day was romantic, relaxed, emotional, and full of those little moments that make intimate weddings feel so special. From the blush and sage details to the blooming wildflowers scattered across the mountainside, everything about their celebration felt effortless and genuine. 💍✨

A Romantic Smoky Mountain Wedding Setting

For their ceremony décor, Hannah and Cory chose blush and dusty sage fabric paired with our candle and lantern package, creating the dreamiest soft southern atmosphere beneath the trees. 🌿🕯️

The flicker of candlelight against the natural forest backdrop added such a warm glow to the chapel, especially with the fresh spring greenery surrounding everything.

Hannah also brought beautiful florals from The Flower Cottage back home in West Virginia, which added an extra personal touch to the day. The bouquets featured pampas grass, creamy neutrals, and soft romantic textures that blended perfectly with the Smoky Mountain setting.

The overall design struck that perfect balance between elegant and relaxed — exactly the kind of atmosphere couples often dream about for an intimate southern wedding.

A Gorgeous Southern Bridal Style

Hannah looked absolutely stunning. 🤍

She wore a sleeveless gown from Grace Loves Lace featuring a high slit and delicate lace train that flowed beautifully through the woods during portraits. Her medium-length veil added softness and romance, while her elegant updo perfectly completed the look.

There’s something about spring weddings in East Tennessee that pairs so beautifully with effortless bridal styling. Nothing felt overly formal or stiff. Instead, Hannah looked radiant, relaxed, and completely herself.

And honestly? Her sweet southern drawl made the whole day even more charming. 🥹

Southern Charm for the Groom

Cory brought the perfect amount of country charm to the wedding day.

He wore jeans, a dark dress shirt, and a vest paired with a black cowboy hat — a look that felt polished while still staying true to his personality and the laid-back atmosphere of the day.

One of our favorite things about micro weddings at Chapel in the Hollow is how couples feel free to fully be themselves. There’s no pressure to follow traditions that don’t fit. Couples can create a wedding day that reflects who they actually are, and Hannah and Cory did exactly that.

And throughout the entire afternoon, Cory couldn’t stop smiling at Hannah.

You could tell how genuinely excited he was to be marrying her.

A Family-Centered Ceremony in the Woods

One of the most beautiful parts of Hannah and Cory’s wedding was how centered it was around family.

Her father had the honor of walking her down the aisle, and their two girls and two boys stood alongside them during the ceremony, making the entire celebration feel deeply meaningful and connected. 💛

At Chapel in the Hollow, we see so many couples choosing micro weddings because they allow space for these intimate family moments. Instead of getting lost in a large production, the focus stays exactly where it should be: on the people you love most.

The peaceful forest setting created the perfect backdrop for that kind of emotional, intentional ceremony.

Exploring the Smoky Mountains for Portraits

After family photos at the chapel, we snuck Hannah and Cory away for portraits around some of our favorite locations on the property. 📸✨

For Hannah and Cory’s portraits, we explored:

  • The mossy tree
  • The creek
  • The field with mountain views

And honestly? Spring absolutely showed off for them that day.

The wildflowers blooming throughout the field created the prettiest pops of color, while the soft afternoon light wrapped everything in this warm, glowy haze that photographers dream about. 🌼🌄

The creek added a peaceful woodland feel to the portraits, while the mountain-view field gave them those iconic Smoky Mountain wedding photos that feel straight out of a movie.

Everywhere we went, these two were laughing together and soaking in every second of being newly married.

Why Couples Love Southern Micro Weddings

There’s a reason more couples are choosing southern micro weddings in the Smoky Mountains.

They offer all the beauty and emotion of a traditional wedding day — but in a way that feels more relaxed, personal, and meaningful.

Micro weddings allow couples to:

  • Focus on family connections
  • Spend quality time together
  • Avoid unnecessary stress
  • Create intentional moments
  • Enjoy nature and scenery
  • Celebrate authentically

For many couples, especially those wanting a romantic outdoor wedding experience, the Smoky Mountains provide the perfect backdrop.

The combination of forests, mountain views, soft natural light, and peaceful surroundings creates an atmosphere that feels almost magical year-round — especially during spring when everything begins blooming again.

From the Bride:

Cory and I went to highschool together. But we didn’t really talk or see each other much. We had different classes. But one time I turned around in chemistry class in the 10th grade to hand him a paper. He didn’t normally sit there. My eyes locked with his and I thought this is the most beautiful boy I’d ever seen. Time stood still. I remembered that moment my whole life. His sister started working for me as a nurse a few years back and I told her that story. We would both end up divorced and once I was single, his sister encouraged us to give it a try. Stated that we were so similar….on the inside….LOL we wouldn’t seem like we would go together. He is a contractor and basically a redneck lol and I’m a nurse practitioner and he calls me “princess” if that gives you any insight. But we both love to laugh and make jokes. And we are both very loyal and dutiful. I did not believe in Love before Cory. But he is definitely my soulmate. We’ve been through a lot of hardship before each other. So we cherish each other. I have 3 kids and he has 1. They all love each other.

The first date was Valentine’s Day last year. We had talked on the phone everyday for hours a couple weeks before it. But he picked me up, picked up takeout and went to his house. I asked to not go out in public yet (small town divorce). But I got to his house and still had an entire panic attack. Couldn’t breathe. Hands numb. All the things. And he was as loving and gentle with me as possible. Once he got back home he called me to ask if I was alright. I told him yes but I’d completely understand if he never wanted to see me again. That I’d tell his sister it was my fault. He said “let me think about it a minute….nah I’m Good Darlin”.

He proposed! He gave me a ring in my room one evening. And it was sweet and perfect. But we already had the wedding planned haha so I was basically like tick tick

I didn’t want to have a large wedding at home. Originally looked to elope just us two but decided to bring my family.

I lived in dandridge on Douglas lake for a couple years. And my parents still have a house there so we are familiar with the area. Holds a special place.

I’m most looking forward to the pictures!!!! We’ve never had any done of us or our kids together.

We like to ride our side by side all through the mountains of southern WV. Cory loves nothing more than to sink me in a mud hole. He likes to golf. And I like to sit in the cart. And swinging on a porch swing together or sitting around the fire pit.

Spring Micro Wedding in the Smoky Mountains – Alivia and Brady

Sweet Spring Micro Wedding
in the Smoky Mountains

Alivia and Brady – May 14, 2026

There’s something extra magical about a spring micro wedding in the Smoky Mountains. The forests begin turning bright green again, wildflowers start popping up everywhere, and the mountain air carries that fresh feeling of new beginnings. For Alivia and Brady, it was the perfect season — and the perfect setting — to start their marriage together at Chapel in the Hollow.

Their intimate weekday wedding was full of heartfelt family moments, timeless details, and the kind of genuine emotion that reminds us why we love small weddings so much. 💍✨

A Relaxed Weekday Wedding in the Smokies

One of the best things about planning a weekday micro wedding in East Tennessee is how peaceful everything feels.

The Smoky Mountains have a quieter energy during the week, especially in spring. Couples can truly slow down, enjoy their time together, and soak in every moment without feeling rushed.

Alivia and Brady embraced that relaxed atmosphere perfectly.

They chose to dress the chapel in crisp white fabric paired with our blue and yellow florals, creating a soft, cheerful color palette that looked absolutely beautiful against the fresh spring greenery surrounding the venue. 🌼🌿

The bright pops of blue and yellow added just enough color while still keeping everything timeless and elegant — perfect for a romantic outdoor wedding in the woods.

If you’ve ever dreamed about a peaceful forest ceremony surrounded by nature, this was exactly that kind of day.

A Wedding Dress Full of Family History

One of the most meaningful parts of the entire wedding was Alivia’s dress.

Instead of shopping for something brand new, she chose to wear her mother’s wedding gown — and it was absolutely stunning. 🤍

The dress featured a sleeveless design with a long flowing train that moved beautifully through the forest breeze. Paired with a mid-length veil and cozy slippers, the overall look felt romantic, sentimental, and incredibly personal.

There’s something so special about incorporating family history into a wedding day. Wearing her mother’s gown added an emotional layer to the celebration that everyone could feel.

It was one of those details that made the day uniquely theirs.

Emotional First Looks and Family Moments

Alivia spent the morning getting ready with her mom and sister in the bridal suite, surrounded by excitement, nerves, and lots of love.

One of the sweetest moments happened before the ceremony when she shared a private first look with her dad inside the suite. 🥹

Those quiet moments before walking down the aisle are often some of the most emotional parts of the day, and this one was no exception.

Adding even more meaning to the ceremony, her father also officiated the wedding.

Because he would already be standing at the front during the ceremony, Alivia’s brother had the honor of walking her down the aisle to Brady — another beautiful family-centered touch that made the day feel deeply personal.

At Chapel in the Hollow, we see so many couples finding ways to make their weddings reflect their relationships and their families, and this was such a perfect example of that.

A Classic Groom Style for a Smoky Mountain Wedding

Brady looked incredibly sharp in a blue suit that paired perfectly with their wedding colors and the spring scenery surrounding them.

The combination of the tailored suit and the natural woodland backdrop created that perfect balance between formal and relaxed — something we love about micro weddings in the Smokies.

And the way he looked at Alivia as she walked toward him?

Absolutely heart-melting.

You could see the emotion written all over both of their faces throughout the ceremony.

A Ceremony Filled with Meaning

Their ceremony was intimate, emotional, and centered entirely around what mattered most: the commitment they were making to each other.

Surrounded by the people they love most, Alivia and Brady exchanged rings and vows in the peaceful forest setting of the chapel.

The beauty of smaller weddings is that every moment feels more intentional.

There’s room to breathe. Room to laugh. Room to cry happy tears without feeling like you’re on a strict timeline or performing for a crowd.

That calm, joyful energy surrounded the entire day.

Exploring the Smoky Mountain Scenery

After the ceremony, we captured family photos at the chapel before heading out around the property for portraits with the newlyweds. 📸✨

One of the things couples love most about Chapel in the Hollow’s outdoor wedding venue is the variety of beautiful photo locations all within one private forest property.

For Alivia and Brady’s portraits, we explored:

  • The archway
  • The wooded road
  • The creek
  • The mountain-view field

The field with the Smoky Mountain views was especially gorgeous that afternoon. 🌄

Spring in East Tennessee creates the dreamiest lighting conditions — soft clouds, vibrant greenery, and gentle sunlight filtering through the trees. Every part of the property felt alive and glowing.

The creek added a peaceful woodland feel, while the road and field gave them those iconic Smoky Mountain wedding portraits couples travel from all over the country to experience.

From the Bride:

We are highschool sweethearts! For the first dates, we were too young to drive and would go to each others houses, but our first actual date we went on ourselves was to the movies. Brady proposed on a family vacation at sunset on the beach.

The beautiful smoky mountain backdrop and it is one of our favorite vacation spots! We were looking for a stress free day that we could just show up and have the planning done for us and just be able to enjoy spending the day with each other and our families!

We are looking forward to finally being husband and wife getting to start building our futures and lives together.

Anything is fun as long as we are together! Going to the lake, fishing, planning dates, movie nights, going to the beach

Secret Spring Elopement in the Smoky Mountains – Julie and Curt

Secret Spring Elopement in the Smoky Mountains

Julie and Curt – May 13, 2026

There’s something incredibly romantic about a secret spring elopement. No pressure. No giant guest list. No months of explaining plans to everyone around you. Just two people deciding they’re ready to start forever together — quietly, intentionally, and completely on their own terms.

That’s exactly what Julie and Curt chose when they traveled to Chapel in the Hollow for their intimate Smoky Mountain elopement.

And honestly? It was magical.

They asked us to keep their wedding teasers under wraps until they made it home so they could share the exciting news with family and friends themselves — which somehow made the whole day feel even sweeter. There was this beautiful little bubble of excitement surrounding them all day long, like they were carrying the happiest secret in the world.

Their wedding was quiet, joyful, romantic, and full of those little in-between moments that make intimate weddings so meaningful.

A Secret Smoky Mountain Elopement Full of Spring Color

Julie and Curt chose a gorgeous spring palette for their ceremony décor, dressing the chapel in navy and white fabric paired with red florals.

Against the backdrop of the fresh East Tennessee greenery, the colors absolutely popped.

Spring in the Smokies has a very specific kind of beauty. The forests begin waking back up after winter, and suddenly everything feels alive again — bright greens, soft mountain air, and that peaceful calm before the busy summer season arrives.

The red florals brought warmth and richness to the chapel while the navy accents added a timeless elegance that felt romantic without being overly formal.

Julie also personalized her bouquet by adding faux white and blue florals, creating something uniquely hers while tying together the whole color palette beautifully.

One of the best parts of planning a smaller wedding or elopement is having the freedom to make personal choices like that. Every detail feels intentional because it actually matters to the couple — not because tradition says it should.

A Bride with Romantic Spring Style

Julie looked absolutely stunning.

She wore a long-sleeved gown from Baltic Born with the sweetest fluffy details that gave the dress so much personality and texture. It felt soft, whimsical, and perfect for a cool spring wedding in the woods.

Her look balanced elegance and comfort beautifully — something we see more and more couples prioritizing during intimate weddings and elopements.

She paired the gown with unique wooden shoes from Veldheers Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, adding another playful and personal detail to the day.

Julie handled her own hair and makeup, and the result was effortlessly beautiful. Her whole look fit the atmosphere of the wedding perfectly: relaxed, romantic, and genuine.

Relaxed Country Charm for the Groom

Curt looked equally handsome in a combination that perfectly matched the tone of the day.

He wore jeans, a dress shirt, and a vest — polished enough for the occasion while still feeling relaxed and authentic. It’s one of the things we love most about Smoky Mountain elopements: couples feel free to dress in ways that actually reflect who they are instead of feeling boxed into expectations.

And when Julie walked down the aisle by herself?

Curt’s face absolutely lit up.

The second he saw her, he broke into the biggest smile, and from that moment forward, the two of them looked completely wrapped up in each other. The joy between them was impossible to miss.

Why Couples Choose Secret Elopements

Over the last few years, we’ve seen more and more couples choosing secret elopements or private ceremonies in the Smoky Mountains.

And honestly, we completely understand why.

Sometimes couples want to:

  • Avoid wedding stress
  • Keep the focus on their relationship
  • Plan something spontaneous
  • Save money for travel or a home
  • Celebrate privately before telling everyone
  • Escape family pressure or expectations
  • Create an experience that feels truly personal

Secret elopements create space for couples to actually experience their wedding day together without distraction.

Julie and Curt’s wedding had exactly that energy. Peaceful. Excited. Intentional. Full of quiet happiness.

Exploring the Property for Portraits

After the ceremony, we spent time wandering around some of our favorite spots on the property for portraits.

One of the things couples love most about Chapel in the Hollow is that there are so many beautiful locations packed into one intimate forest property.

For Julie and Curt’s portraits, we explored:

  • The chapel itself
  • The mossy tree
  • The vintage truck
  • The open field with mountain views

The spring greens were absolutely vibrant that day, creating the dreamiest natural backdrop imaginable.

The field was especially beautiful. East Tennessee in spring has this soft freshness to it — the mountains glowing in the distance, cool breezes moving through the trees, and sunlight filtering through new leaves.

It’s the kind of scenery that makes you slow down and soak everything in.

Julie and Curt were completely relaxed together during portraits, laughing, holding hands, and just enjoying finally being married.

That’s the beauty of intimate weddings. There’s time to breathe.

From the Bride:

We met on a dating app! I (Julie) had been through some really rotten dates and was ready to be single. Something about Curt and his profile made me decide to give it one last try. We started chatting instantly and met about a week later at a park. Everything just felt so natural-like we had been friends forever. We have so much in common, similar upbringings, and he has the best family who welcomed my teen girls and I with open arms. I am truly grateful that I did not give up dating or I may not have found the most amazing person to share life with.

He met me at a local park for our first meeting with his German Shepherd (who I was scared of and is now my best friend!) We just walked and talked and instantly connected. For our first official date, we walked on the pier and grabbed dinner by the water. West Michigan has a ton of great date spots!

Our birthdays are 2 days apart in the dead of winter and we got engaged in the hot tub after a great day of exploring northern Michigan. Curt actually proposed in the kitchen of our new home 6 months prior in June of 2024 and unfortunately I wasn’t ready. We had just bought a house together and were in the process of remodeling and selling mine. It was such a stressful and busy time. But when the following January rolled around, I felt ready and asked him if he would still be mine forever. I secretly bought him a ring that he would love. He said yes!

I have been to the Smokies by myself several times in the past and while researching the map for our vacation, I stumbled upon Chapel in the Hollow. It got the wheels turning for a fun elopement surprise!

We are going to be on vacation for the week, and this whole elopement will be a surprise to Curt. I am looking forward to him finding out about our big day the day before. I felt terrible that I wasn’t ready to be engaged in 2024 and I feel that this is my way to make it up to him. We have been together for 3 years and he is more than ready to get married. He will be thrilled that he doesn’t have to worry or plan a thing! I had to pack very strategically!

We love to go on weekend road trips together, find new BBQ places to try, and hang out with family by the fire. We are going camping together for the first time this summer so that will be a new adventure to add to marriage!

Midweek Elopement in the Smoky Mountains – Claire and AJ

 Relaxed Midweek Smoky Mountain Elopement

Claire and AJ – May 12, 2026

Spring weekdays in the Smoky Mountains have a quiet kind of magic, and Claire and AJ’s weekday elopement at Chapel in the Hollow was the perfect reminder of why so many couples are choosing intimate midweek weddings in East Tennessee. Surrounded by fresh spring greenery, peaceful forest views, and the relaxed atmosphere that comes with a weekday celebration, their wedding day felt joyful, emotional, and completely centered around the two of them.

The Smoky Mountains in spring are always beautiful, but weekday weddings bring an extra level of calm to the experience. The slower pace allowed Claire and AJ to truly soak in every part of the day, from getting ready to exploring the property together for portraits after the ceremony. The soft greens filling back into the trees and the gentle mountain light filtering through the forest created the dreamiest backdrop for their intimate wedding day.

A Romantic Woodland Wedding Style

Claire and AJ chose to decorate the chapel with white fabric paired with Chapel in the Hollow’s wildflower florals and fern wreaths. The combination created a fresh woodland aesthetic that blended perfectly with the natural beauty of the East Tennessee forest. The soft white details against the vibrant greenery gave the entire ceremony space an airy and romantic feel while still keeping everything relaxed and nature-inspired.

Claire looked absolutely stunning in a sleeveless white gown with delicate floral embroidery that fit the spring forest setting beautifully. One of the standout details of her bridal look was her embroidered veil, which caught the sunlight perfectly throughout their portraits around the property. Her overall bridal style felt elegant, soft, and effortlessly timeless while still matching the easygoing atmosphere of their weekday elopement.

AJ looked sharp in a grey suit paired with a patterned tie that added just enough personality to complement the relaxed vibe of the day. Together, the two looked perfectly suited for a romantic Smoky Mountain forest wedding surrounded by nature.

A Sweet and Emotional Ceremony

One of the sweetest moments of the day happened as Claire walked down the aisle toward AJ. His face immediately lit up with excitement the moment he saw her approaching. Honestly, he looked especially excited to finally get his ring too, which brought such a fun and genuine energy to the ceremony. Those little unscripted reactions are often the moments couples treasure most from their wedding day.

During the ceremony, Claire and AJ exchanged personal vows, making the experience feel even more meaningful and intimate. Claire became emotional while reading hers, and there wasn’t a dry eye in sight for a moment. At the same time, the two kept laughing and smiling throughout the ceremony, creating the perfect balance of heartfelt emotion and joy.

That balance is one of the reasons couples love choosing a weekday elopement in the Smoky Mountains. Without the stress and pressure of a large traditional wedding timeline, couples are able to focus fully on each other and enjoy the experience together. Weekday elopements often offer quieter travel days, more peaceful photo sessions, and a slower pace overall, allowing couples to actually be present during their wedding day instead of feeling rushed from one event to the next.

Exploring the Property for Smoky Mountain Wedding Photos

After the ceremony, we explored several of Chapel in the Hollow’s favorite portrait locations around the property. Claire and AJ wandered through the chapel area, the archway, the winding road, the creek, the open field, and the highland area while we captured portraits surrounded by the soft spring greenery.

The fresh East Tennessee landscape made every location feel magical. The field offered beautiful mountain views while the wooded areas gave their portraits a cozy, romantic atmosphere. The creek and road provided some especially fun moments as the two laughed, joked, and simply enjoyed spending time together throughout the session.

Honestly, one of the best parts of the entire day was simply hanging out with Claire and AJ. Between conversations about books, whiskey, and nonstop joking during portraits, their wedding day felt relaxed and authentic in the best possible way. Their elopement was such a good reminder that weddings do not have to be overly formal or stressful to feel deeply meaningful. Sometimes the most unforgettable days are the ones where couples are simply allowed to be themselves together.

From the Bride

We met in grad school where we were in the same program. We bonded over our mutual love of science, whiskey, and game of thrones. When Covid hit and closed down on site work we were able to take a step back from our studies and really get to know each other. Since then our life has been an adventure. We hung out as friends for the longest time, and then he asked me to be his plus one at a wedding.

Who proposed – Now that’s a story! We went camping at a state park near Houston with the dogs. We had a lovely day of hiking and enjoyed our meals over the fire. The next day we moved our camp site to Bolivar beach. Where we laughed and hand a wonderful day together on the beach. That evening we made a fire and cooked. The sun went down and the stars were shining bright on one of the clearest nights I had seen. While listening to the waves on the beach, he said my name and I turned around to see him down on one knee. We’ve been together for 7 years and we had always talked about getting married but nothing can adequately describe how magical that moment was. We lived in Greenville, South Carolina for a while and enjoy the mountains. The Smokies are a newer area for us but the pictures made it seem like the perfect place. We are looking forward to getting married. Also we have grown so much as individuals and in our relationship. We are looking forward to celebrating that love and spending time just for us.

We are both very passionate about what we do. We are both biomedical researchers (PhDs) just trying to make the world at least a little bit better for the people in it. We enjoy hiking, fishing, exploring new places and spending time with friends.
