Suzie and Lindsie October 19, 2019
Our third wedding on October 19th was Suzie and Lindsie. OMG, they were so cute! Suzie’s dress was so unique, and Lindsie was sharp in her navy suit. Suzie walked down the aisle to the sounds of rain drops and live guitar music. The rain made us lose the light earlier than I would’ve liked, but it also gave us the opportunity to get creative so here’s a little something different than you normally see from us… Congratulations Suzie and Lindsie!!
From Suzie:
We met through work. Lindsie is a law enforcement officer and I am a 911 Operator/Dispatcher. I had worked for our agency for years before Lindsie was hired. We instantly became best friends! We stayed friends for a really long time before we ever became a couple. We were really close friends for a long time before we tarted dating. Our first official date was a day out Christmas shopping together.
Lindsie proposed me . We are renovating Lindsie’s grandmother’s old house. I had a very stressful day at work, and Lindsie could tell I was frazzled. After work, Lindsie and I went down to the house to check on the progress of the renovation. While we were there, Lindsie played my favorite song on her iPhone (Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls) and we danced in front of the fireplace together. When the song ended, she got down on one knee and pulled a Blue Nile jewelry box out of her pocket. She said, “Susan… I have a huge LESBIAN crush on you! Will you marry me?” (The lesbian crush comment is a quote from our favorite movie, Mean Girls.) Of course, I said yes!
Although tolerated, our alternative lifestyle isn’t necessarily all that well accepted in our area. We decided it would probably be best to elope and have a private ceremony in a place we felt comfortable and welcome with only our closest friends in attendance. We’re a few hour away from Gatlinburg, so I sent out some e-mails checking for LGBT friendly venues in that area. I got a quick response from Chapel in the Hollow. Chastidyi was so open, friendly, and helpful. Once I checked the website, I knew instantly that Chapel in the Hollow was the perfect place for our ceremony!
Lindsie and I both are SO excited to marry our best friends. We’ve been through so much together over the years and had to overcome a lot of obstacles for our relationship to become a reality. Words can’t express the amount of love and respect we have for one another.
Lindsie wanted to choose a date that would be easy to remember and I wanted to get married in the fall. October is my favorite month! So, Lindsie suggested 10-19-19 and it seemed perfect.
We have two beautiful fur children – an Australian Shepherd named Levi and a Siberian Husky named Athena. We love to do things outdoors so the pups can tag along. They love kayaking! When we aren’t doing things outdoors, we keep things low key. A typical date night for us is dinner and a movie – not uncommon for that dinner and move to be at home. We also enjoy going to the local drive-in and The Barter Theatre in Abingdon, VA.
