Spooky Spring Micro Wedding – Cory and Olivia

Spooky Spring Micro Wedding in the Smoky Mountains

Cory and Olivia – April 22, 2026

When you think of spring weddings, you might picture soft pastels and airy florals—but Olivia and Cory took a beautifully different path. Their spooky spring micro wedding at Chapel in the Hollow blended gothic romance with fresh seasonal charm, creating a celebration that felt entirely their own.

Nestled in the forests of East Tennessee, Chapel in the Hollow is known for giving couples the feeling of a national park wedding without the stress of permits or restrictions. Olivia and Cory leaned into that freedom, crafting a day that was equal parts moody, meaningful, and magical.

A Bold, Gothic Spring Aesthetic

Instead of traditional spring tones, Olivia and Cory chose a black-on-green palette that perfectly complemented the natural surroundings. The chapel was draped in black fabric and accented with the venue’s signature succulent florals, giving the space a rich, moody vibe while still feeling connected to the new life of spring.

The contrast of dark elements against the soft greens of the forest created a striking visual—proof that spring weddings don’t have to follow the rules to feel seasonal and fresh.

A Bride Who Redefined Wedding Style

Olivia fully embraced the spooky spring theme with a look that was unforgettable. She wore a long-sleeved black gown with a sparkly train, pairing it with black boots for a bold, alternative bridal style that felt both edgy and elegant.

Her getting-ready moments were filled with love, as her mom and sister helped her prepare for the day. These quiet, emotional moments added depth to an already powerful aesthetic.

One of the most unique details? Her bouquet. Olivia handcrafted it herself using black flowers with candles woven throughout—a dramatic and creative choice that perfectly captured her personality and the tone of the day.

A Groom Who Matched the Mood

Cory complemented Olivia’s look with a sleek, coordinated outfit featuring black dress pants, a black shirt, and a green vest and tie. The green accents tied beautifully into the succulent florals, bringing a subtle balance to the darker tones.

Together, they created a cohesive visual story that felt intentional, stylish, and completely authentic.

A Ceremony Rooted in Meaning

This wasn’t just a visually stunning wedding—it was deeply personal.

Olivia chose to walk herself down the aisle, a powerful and emotional moment that reflected her independence and strength. Their ceremony was officiated by a close friend, adding a layer of intimacy that made the experience even more special.

Their wedding party was small but incredibly meaningful:

  • Olivia’s sister stood by her side as maid of honor
  • Cory’s Papaw served as his best man

These choices highlighted what micro weddings do best—focusing on connection over convention.

Unique Details That Told Their Story

Every detail of Olivia and Cory’s day reflected their individuality. Olivia’s ring—a white gold setting with rutilated quartz—was a standout piece that added an earthy, one-of-a-kind touch to their wedding look.

And their ceremony exit? Set to an instrumental version of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters.” It was the perfect blend of romance and edge, echoing the tone of the entire celebration.

Exploring the Property: From Whimsical to Spooky

After the ceremony, the couple explored some of Chapel in the Hollow’s most unique photo locations with Star Noir Studio.

Their portraits included:

  • The graveyard, adding a subtle spooky vibe
  • The fairy garden, bringing in a touch of whimsy
  • The vintage truck, for a rustic, laid-back feel

All of it was captured under the soft glow of an East Tennessee spring morning, creating a stunning contrast between light and dark.

From the Bride and Groom

We met at school through a mutual friend around 16 years ago! We technically went on a park “date” when we were kids 🙂 but the real first date was to the Knoxville Tattoo Convention in 2022. I was always interested in him but wasn’t sure if he was interested in me, but he was and he had a plan and it started there. We spent most of the day walking around the convention but we also stopped by Guitar Center because he is a musician and I convinced him to buy a guitar he had been wanting. He took our wristbands from the convention and actually put them inside the guitar because they were both sentimental to him and our relationship. Now he performs on stage with this guitar.

Cory proposed. We were on our way to a Deathcore concert at the Mill and Mine in Knoxville. He proposed to me right before we walked into the venue. It was very private and intimate. We have both always lived in East Tennessee and we have a house here, so it made the most sense to stay here for the wedding. On our wedding day we are looking forward to seeing the bride in her dress and getting to marry the person I have wanted to be with since we were kids. Most of our important dates are in the fall and winter, but we didn’t want to wait any longer than we had waited before, and my dress is long sleeved, so I didn’t want it to get too warm.

Cory is a musician in a metal band, a video gamer, and a vintage video game collector. Olivia is also a video gamer as well as an artist. We spend date days video game hunting for our collection that we started together or going to metal concerts.
