Rainy August Wedding
at Chapel in the Hollow
Mandy and Brian – August 6, 2026
There’s something undeniably magical about a rainy August wedding in the Smoky Mountains. While many couples hope for bright sunshine, those who embrace a little summer rain are often rewarded with the most breathtaking scenery imaginable. Mandy and Brian discovered exactly that when they celebrated their heartfelt wedding at Chapel in the Hollow, surrounded by their children, the lush East Tennessee forest, and a little bit of August rain that made everything feel even more romantic.
At Chapel in the Hollow, we always remind couples that Mother Nature has a way of adding her own special touch to every celebration. For Mandy and Brian, the gentle rain transformed the forest into a vibrant green paradise, creating the perfect backdrop for a wedding day they’ll never forget.
A Boho-Inspired Rainy August Wedding
Mandy and Brian chose to personalize the chapel with textured rust and cream drapery paired with our beautiful bohemian florals, creating a warm, earthy palette that blended perfectly with the surrounding woodland. They also selected our candle package and hanging jars, adding an inviting glow to the ceremony space.
Mandy made the décor even more meaningful by bringing fresh florals for the hanging jars herself, along with the sweetest little wedding cake decorated with whimsical moon accents. These thoughtful personal touches reflected the couple’s unique style while complementing the natural beauty of the forest chapel.
The result was an intimate ceremony space that felt cozy, romantic, and perfectly suited for a rainy August celebration.
Family at the Heart of Their Wedding Day
One of the most touching parts of Mandy and Brian’s wedding was the way they included their children throughout the day.
Before the ceremony, Mandy shared quiet moments getting ready with her mother and daughter, creating memories that will be treasured forever. She also enjoyed an emotional first look with both of her sons before walking down the aisle.
When ceremony time arrived, their daughter proudly served as flower girl while Mandy’s sons had the honor of escorting their mother to Brian. It was a beautiful reminder that this wedding wasn’t simply about two people coming together—it was about celebrating the joining of an entire family.
To symbolize this new beginning, Mandy and Brian chose to include a meaningful sand ceremony during their vows, blending different colors of sand together to represent the unity of their family and the life they are building together.
A Bride with Effortless Bohemian Style
Mandy looked absolutely stunning in a flowing bohemian-inspired wedding gown featuring soft layers, crocheted lace, and delicate feather details that moved beautifully with every step. One of our favorite details was her embroidered floral boots, which perfectly reflected her relaxed personality while adding a fun, unique twist to her bridal look.
Brian complemented her style perfectly in a crisp white dress shirt paired with a tan vest, creating a timeless yet relaxed look that fit beautifully with their woodland wedding.
Together, they looked completely at home beneath the forest canopy.
When Rain Creates the Perfect Wedding Photos
Just before the ceremony began, the skies opened and a gentle August rain rolled through the chapel.
Rather than rushing, everyone simply paused for a few moments and allowed the shower to pass. That brief wait turned out to be one of the best decisions of the day.
Once the ceremony concluded, the rain drifted away, leaving behind sparkling leaves, misty woods, and vibrant greenery that simply can’t be recreated any other way. The fresh rainfall gave every portrait an almost storybook quality.
Their family portraits on the chapel steps were filled with joy before we explored several of Chapel in the Hollow’s favorite portrait locations. We captured romantic images around the chapel itself, wandered along the peaceful gravel road, and finished in the highland area where the rain had transformed the landscape into an incredibly lush and vibrant setting.
Rain often brings out richer colors, softer light, and an atmosphere that photographers dream about, and Mandy and Brian’s portraits are proof that a little rain can create extraordinary memories.
