PB&J Unity Ceremony – Natalie and Marty

Natalie and Marty – October 18, 2021

PB&J Unity Ceremony

Natalie and Marty joined us for our second wedding of the day. They dressed the chapel in champagne with our blush and marsala florals. They decided to do something super unique and have a peanut butter and jelly unity ceremony. It was super cute!! Congratulations, Natalie and Marty!!!
From the Bride:
We met the most organic way possible – at Starbucks at 6:30 in the morning. Marty had just worked all night, and I woke up super early to make the hour drive there. I had a lapse in judgment and he convinced me to hang out at his house because he was so sleepy from working, and next thing you know, here we are. The exact details are unknown, or maybe forgotten, but we both take pleasure in recounting our ideas of how it actually happened. I ordered a venti americano with room, and he just stared at me while I talked and talked and talked. He continued to stare at me for the next couple of dates.
We decided to get married long before the proposal. Marty purchased the ring in 2019. There were many flubbed attempts at proposing. I have an uncanny skill for spoiling surprises. Eventually, I just had to stop joking about him proposing at events because I ruined it a few times. We found out I was pregnant in August 2020, and wanted to get photos before I was obviously pregnant. He took the opportunity to message the photographer 10 minutes before we showed up to let her know he was going to propose. It was a really sweet moment.
We both love Tennessee. We love the mountains, the morning fog, the crisp fall air, the streams and rivers. It evokes such visceral feelings that call to our souls. We visited last year, and we both knew we wanted to get married here.
The saying – the days are long, but the years are short has been resonating with us lately. The day itself is something we have been looking forward to. Making sure we enjoy every part of the day and being really present in what is happening is so important. Setting the day up to go as smoothly as possible, rolling with the hiccups that we know will pop up, and most important – cherishing the joy and love of each other and the people we have brought with us to celebrate.
We do a lot together. It’s uncommon to see Marty out without me. We haven’t been able to do our hobbies as much this year, as we are still finding our groove in being new parents. We like to trout fish, camp, and kayak. Marty thinks he’s going to get me to go hunting (not going to happen). We cook dinner together, and make elaborate plans for all of the things we want to do.
