Lovely Wedding with Succulents – Darcy and Shon

Darcy and Shon – July 1, 2022

Lovely Wedding with Succulents

Darcy and Shon joined us for their lovely wedding with succulents. They dressed the chapel in white and sand, our lanterns, succulent wreaths, and our succulent florals, plus she made her own gorgeous bouquet! She looked so beautiful in her lacy dress, and he was all snazzed up in his jacket and cowboy hat. These two were the sweetest, and she had such a magnetic smile!! She made this tasty looking pie for a little something sweet. Congratulations, Darcy and Shon!
From the Bride:
We met back in high school. Shon was the older brother to one of my best friends. He was 2 years older than me so we never really hung out but always had mutual friends and things in common. I’m sure at that point I was just one of his sisters annoying friends. Plus, I already had a boyfriend at the time.
Fast forward 20 plus years… We had both gotten married, had kids and were newly divorced when we reconnected through social media. After about a week of staying up half the night messaging back and forth we decided to meet for dinner and the rest is history❤️.
On our first date surprisingly, I was nervous, he said he was not. Like I said, we had been chatting on social media for about a week and had caught up on life and it was just like 2 long lost friends catching up. Unbeknownst to me he had already contacted his sister who is still one of my best friends and asked her if it would be ok to ask me out on a date. (Obviously she said yes because here we are today.) I remember thinking how easy it was to talk to him since we already knew one another and most of each others friends and family. We chose to eat at a small restaurant nearby where we talked and talked. After dinner we went to the college campus near there and went for a walk and just when we thought we couldn’t possibly have anything else to talk about, we talked some more!
He proposed, Christmas Day 2021. Since we had already had Christmas with our kids the day before, we had Christmas Day all to ourselves. So we decided to sleep in and just enjoy the day. It was unseasonably warm for Indiana on Christmas Day and sadly no snow. So we decided to drive north and see if we could find some . We got about an hour away and saw a sign for Pokagon State Park. They have a Toboggan Sled Run and we thought maybe it would be open so we chose to go there. Unfortunately it was not, so we took advantage of the weather and walked the trails along the lake to the Lodge. We saw a group of swans on the lake so we walked down to the water to see them. Once we got down to the shore is when he pulled a tiny stocking out of his pocket and handed it to me, there was a ribbon sticking out the top of the stocking and he told me to pull the ribbon, I did and on other end of that ribbon was the most beautiful diamond ring. Everything at that point was a blur, I’m sure he said something magical as he placed the ring on my finger but I was grinning from ear to ear and was too caught up in the moment I guess. But I know I said Yes.
We chose Tennessee for our wedding because we had both been there separately and loved it. Since we had both been married before we didn’t want a big wedding. So, I began searching wedding chapels in Tennessee and when I saw Chapel in the Hollow, I knew it was perfect! I can’t wait to see the look on his face when he sees me for the first time in my dress!
For fun, we enjoy spending time with our families. Riding our motorcycle, going to car shows, and being outdoors, bicycle riding, hiking and watching sunsets.
