Family Micro Wedding – Emma and Ian

Family-Centered Winter Micro Wedding at Chapel in the Hollow

Emma and Ian – November 22, 2025

Family means everything during a wedding day — and for Emma and Ian, their cozy winter micro wedding at Chapel in the Hollow was designed around exactly that. Surrounded by the people who matter most, their celebration blended emotional moments, sentimental details, and the peaceful beauty of the East Tennessee woods. If you’re dreaming of a relaxed, intimate ceremony where family connection comes first, their story is the perfect inspiration.

A Soft Winter Color Palette for a Warm, Emotional Day

Emma and Ian chose a beautiful seasonal palette that felt both romantic and inviting. They dressed the chapel in dusty blue and textured rust fabric, accented with our blueberry winter florals and the Winter Tree Package—a guest favorite for couples planning cold-weather micro weddings. The cool icy tones and warm earthy hues created a dreamy contrast, giving the space a soft winter-blue glow without losing that cozy forest charm our venue is known for.

A Bride Surrounded by Love

Emma looked absolutely radiant in her sleeveless layered gown, complete with a mid-length veil that floated perfectly in the forest breeze. But the most meaningful detail was tucked right into her bouquet: a handkerchief lovingly handmade by her grandmother, wrapped around the stems. It was the perfect way to honor family history while stepping into the next chapter of her story.

In the bridal suite, her mom and sisters helped her dress, filling the space with laughter and that excited pre-ceremony buzz every bride remembers. These quiet family moments are one of the reasons so many couples choose family micro weddings—less stress, more connection, and time to be fully present.

A Ceremony Filled With Emotion

Ian looked timeless in his classic black suit, and the moment he saw Emma walk toward him, he couldn’t hold back tears. Her dad escorted her down the aisle, and as their officiant—Paul Whitaker—began the ceremony, the emotions deepened.

When Ian cried again during their vows, every family member felt it. This is the magic of micro weddings: fewer distractions, more raw moments, and the freedom to express your heart without feeling overwhelmed by a big audience.

Family Photos + Forest Adventures

After the ceremony, we captured a full set of family portraits at the chapel—one of the benefits of an intimate wedding where everyone can be photographed beautifully and without rush.

From there, Emma and Ian explored some of our most loved photo locations:

  • The Highlands – with its sweeping tree lines

  • The Road + Forest Tunnel – always a romantic favorite

  • The Truck – rustic charm with a Southern twist

  • The Field – where soft, cloudy midday light added a moody winter magic

These areas are some of the most popular among couples who choose our venue. You can explore more photo inspiration here:

From the Bride

We met in November 2023 at college at the bible study on campus. In March of 2024 we started dating. We quickly became best friends and love spending every moment together. We like to watch movies together and spend time with our families. Our first date we went to see Kung Fu Panda 4 and then we got Coldstone ice cream afterwards.

On July 5, 2025 Ian proposed at sunset at Lake Michigan. Funny thing, he also ended up losing his wallet that day at the beach :).My friend got married at Chapel in the Hollow a couple of years ago and I just loved how beautiful it was! I wanted a very small wedding.

I can’t wait to marry my best friend! I also look forward to seeing what TN is like! We picked this date because we liked how it sounded. We like to go fishing, watch movies, play card/board games, and be outside.
