Your Guide to Eloping in the Smoky Mountains

Are you thinking about going small and eloping in the Smoky Mountains?? It’s a great choice! We’re here to help and have tons of info to make your planning go smoothly.

1. Marriage License – This (aside from your spouse, of course) is the only thing you MUST have to get married in Tennessee. It has to be a TN license, but it can come from any courthouse in the state. We recommend Sevier County — they do so many that they have streamlined the process. 2. Wedding Professionals – Most of our couples are from out of state, and we understand that planning from a distance can be challenging. Flowers, hair and makeup, photography, coordination, cakes…. there are so many things to think of! We’ve compiled a list of some of the best wedding pros in the area to help you out! 3. Places to Stay – There are all kinds of great places to stay while you are here for your Smoky Mountain wedding. If you prefer relaxation and are wanting a more solitary getaway, Townsend, Wears Valley, and the outskirts of Gatlinburg are great options. There’s a super cute honeymoon cabin called Dancing Bearfoot with a gorgeous copper tub and lots of amenities that we highly recommend. If you prefer to  be in the midst of the action, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, and the main part of Gatlinburg might be more to your taste. Dream More Resort is a fun option for families or couples.
4. Reception Spots – Most of our couples who bring guests choose to head back to their cabin after their ceremony and photos to celebrate with their families. If it’s just the two of you, or you want something a little different, there are some great restaurants in the area that have private rooms like The Walnut Kitchen , Sullivan’s Downtown, Park Grill, Five Oaks Farm Kitchen, and Ye Olde Steak House. You could also have a picnic at one of the local parks (maybe use one of the pavilions if you have guests) or head into Cades Cove to enjoy the scenery.
5. The Venue – Last but certainly not least… you need an epic place to say your vows. The Smoky Mountains are home to tons of options for gorgeous spots to say I do. We, of course, are partial to our little Chapel in the Hollow, but we know that we aren’t for everyone. Cades Cove is home to some of the most beautiful scenery in the country just make sure that your professional vendors have permits to operate there. Honeysuckle Hills, Mountain Mist, and The Ivey House are also great alternatives especially if you have a larger crowd (50+).
