Elopement in the Smoky Mountains – Amber and Mason

Amber and Mason – June 10, 2022

Elopement in the Smoky Mountains

Amber and Mason joined us for an elopement in the Smoky Mountains. They are the second couple to use the chapel with no fabric, and I’ll admit I kind of like it, lol. She looked radiant in her dress from Baltic Born, and that lovely red hair was wonderfully striking. These two were so cute and so much fun to hang with! Congratulations, Amber and Mason!!
From the Bride:
Mason was the best man in my college roommates wedding. I was a bridesmaid. She knew I had applied for jobs in Louisville and was looking at moving and said “you should meet our best man” I said “I’m not interested” turns out I was interested. By the time they got married because of Covid we had already been together 2 years, after meeting when we all hung out. I would say we didn’t really have a first “date” we had a first hangout where we just hung out with our mutual friends and drank and played some drinking games, it was very low key and very comfortable. We were inseparable after that. A memorable date when we first started dating long distance was meeting in the middle of Louisville and Cincinnati at this little Mexican restaurant in the middle of no where. I was in my work clothes, but we didn’t care. We were just so happy to see each other.
Mason proposed. I used to do stream restoration in college and when we were dating long distance (I lived in Cincinnati he in Louisville when we first started seeing each other- but I had already made moves to move to Louisville. Just took about 2 months to get all the parts in place) I asked him to meet me about half way at a park where I had worked on the stream and we hiked to a waterfall I had helped build. One day in sept 2021 after my nieces first birthday in Cincinnati mason said “let’s stop and check on your waterfall” on the way home. when we got there I was checking everything out and I turned around and there he was on a rock down on one knee. Very perfect.
We decided on an East Tennessee wedding  because we both wanted low key and low stress. Trying to plan a wedding when our families live 3 hours apart and his parents aren’t exactly getting along was so stressful. I’ve always loved the smokies so I started looking at elopement options there. When I saw the chapel I just knew. We are looking forward to celebrating our love, just the two of us. Low key and sweet. Our love has always been the sweet kind of love, no drama just us on our own terms. And of course beautiful photos to look back on. We are spending four days before/after the wedding in the smokies on a mini wedding honeymoon adventure. It should be perfect.
We didn’t have a date in mind, we just chose a date that wasn’t in Kentucky’s deer or Turkey season. That means the summer. From there I just picked a weekend we were otherwise free. Mason is a huge outdoorsmen when it comes to hunting and fishing. For fun, we adventure in the outdoors- fishing, hiking, just seeing new parks or wildlife management areas. We also like to find little diners or cool new breakfast spots most Sunday mornings. It’s an amazing tradition we both love.
