Dusk Fall Elopement
April and Earnest – October 28, 2023
From the Bride:
We actually grew up about 75 miles apart in southern West Virginia but did not connect until 2 years ago via a message on Facebook. The restaurant we agreed to meet at for our first date was overbooked so we had to pick a second one to go to. We had a great dinner (wings, one of my favorites, fried green tomatoes were part of it) and sat near the windows and watched the sunset on the river. After dinner, we walked to the benches by the river and continued talking. He rubbed my feet while we talked (after learning I was a NICU nurse and spend many hours on my feet). The date lasted about 5 hours and we said good night. He called me that night and again the next day and we have been together ever since. 🙂
Ernie is a captain for a charter boat. He knows that I absolutely love dolphins. On December 28, he asked if I wanted to go to the marina and set on the boat to watch a rocket launch and try to catch the dolphins jumping. Of course, I said yes. After we got to the boat, we walked to the bow of the boat. I was standing there just watching the water and saw a dolphin jump just as he said my name. I turn around and he is on one knee, holding out the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. He asked me to be his wife and with happy tears in my eyes, I said YES.
We both grew up in the mountains of West Virginia and wanted to be in the mountains for our wedding day. Choosing Chapel in the Hollow was so easy after we looked at all the photos on the website. I am looking forward to celebrating our love and starting the rest of our lives together as husband and wife.
For fun, a typical date night may be going out to dinner, then to the movies or to play video games (PacMan, etc). We may cook dinner together while laughing and dancing in the kitchen. We love to watch football together and enjoy a day out on the water deep sea fishing. I like to tease him that I am the best catch of his life 🙂
