Wedding Shoes for Outdoor Weddings
You’re getting married–yay!! You’ve got the dress, and now you need to figure out the shoe situation. There are so many options, and you may want them all. 😉 If you’re going by the tradition — something borrowed, something new…. you can have your shoes be new and blue to check a couple of requirements off of your list. We’ve seen all kinds of fun shoes here from strappy little numbers to galoshes, and it’s so neat to see how they pair with the gorgeous dresses.
A couple of things to keep in mind when choosing your shoes if you are having an outdoor wedding… You’re going to be walking over different types of terrain. They will probably get a little dirty. Don’t wear heels if you aren’t used to walking in heels — no one wants a broken ankle on their wedding day. Be sure to try them on with the dress to see if you need to have the dress hemmed. Your shoes should complement, not compete with, your wedding dress. If your gown is adorned with lace or intricate details, opt for simpler shoes that won’t overpower the dress. On the other hand, if your dress is sleek and minimalist, you have the creative freedom to experiment with more elaborate shoe designs.
Comfort should be a top priority. Opt for shoes with cushioned insoles or arch support to keep your feet happy throughout the day. Thankfully, comfort doesn’t have to mean sacrificing style. Explore elegant ballet flats, chic block heels, or even embellished wedges that offer both comfort and glamour.
We recommend flats or kitten heels for the majority of our brides. If you’re going to go with heels, we suggest chunky heels. Thin heels and stilettos sink into the soft ground in the woods. If your heart is set on a thin heel, they make clear heel stoppers that will help you get around without sinking! Some brides will bring a pair of shoes to walk in and then slip into the fancy shoes when they get to the photo spot.
One of the joys of outdoor weddings is being surrounded by nature’s beauty. Enhance this connection by opting for shoes with nature-inspired embellishments. Think floral embroidery, leaf motifs, or even intricate butterfly accents that celebrate the environment around you.
Consider the trend of going barefoot. You can adorn your feet with delicate anklets or toe rings for a boho-chic touch. Alternatively, you might choose to wear barely-there, minimalist sandals that create the illusion of being barefoot while still providing a touch of elegance.
Outdoor weddings offer the chance to explore a wider color palette for your shoes. While classic white or ivory remains popular, consider shades like blush, pastels, or even metallics for a touch of uniqueness. These alternative colors can beautifully complement the outdoor scenery.
Don’t forget to remind your guests so they have an easy time getting around! At our location, they will be walking along a gravel road to get to the chapel area which is mulched.
