Troy and DeAnn’s unconventional elopement at Chapel in the Hollow was a delightful celebration that perfectly captured their unique spirits and love for the quirky side of life! They transformed the chapel with white and pink fabric and our stunning ombre florals, setting a vibrant and playful scene for their special day.
Adding to the fun, the couple invited some unconventional guests to their wedding—characters like Shrek and Alf—who took their places in the pews, bringing a touch of whimsy and nostalgia to the ceremony. They also set up a memorial pew, honoring loved ones in spirit with their presence.
Before the ceremony, they shared a touching first look in front of the chapel where DeAnn presented Troy with a special handkerchief, a sweet and personal gesture. Their two pups, dressed for the occasion, joyfully walked down the aisle, escorting their humans before being taken by Troy’s sister who was there to help wrangle the excited canine members of the wedding party.
DeAnn looked gorgeous in a strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline and a sweeping long train, perfectly paired with pink Converse for a touch of fun and comfort. Troy complemented her look with a pink tie, tying together their colorful theme.
After their heartfelt vows, the celebration continued across the property as we captured their love in various scenic spots. DeAnn added a cool twist by donning a jean jacket, and both sported camo bride and groom hats for some playful photos at the old truck, embracing the outdoor vibes of Gatlinburg in October.
Congratulations, Troy and DeAnn! Your wedding was a true reflection of your personalities—fun, colorful, and beautifully unconventional. Here’s to a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and lots of quirky moments!
From the Bride
We met at work in 2015 at the Lincoln Airport. We were on different shifts, but they over lapped and we worked together a few hours each day. For our first date it was a beautiful spring day and we went out for lunch. It was nice to get together outside of work.
Troy proposed on Friday evening May 17, 2024 in our backyard next to the swimming pool. The dogs were outside with us as well as our other friends Shrek, Oscar, Chucky, etc. We had picked the rings up in April, but I didn’t know ahead of time when he was going to actually ask me to marry him. We decided to get married at Chapel in the Hollow because we were looking for a dog friendly venue and wanted something small. We’ve visited the Smoky Mountains and thought it would be a beautiful place to get married. On our wedding day we look forward to getting to share our special day at this scenic location with our dogs and loved ones. We waited 8 years to say “I do”. We picked this date because October seemed like the best time to wed in the Smoky Mountain area. Since we were both able to take time off from work this seemed perfect. We chose the 16th because we both like even numbers, 10-16-24……all even.
We both love the Indianapolis Colts, hiking, traveling, playing games, discussing politics, as well as Shrek, Chucky and Oscar the Grouch. We enjoy hanging out with our twin golden retrievers Peyton and Dolly. They are both therapy dogs we take on visits to the Lincoln Airport, local colleges and special events. They had a younger sister, Harper, who passed away on May 24, 2023. She died unexpectedly at the age of 5 from liver cancer. We even had a dress that matched Dolly’s to wear for the wedding. We honor her memory on this day as well as our parents who have passed: Richard and Dorothy Duffek and Jean Piper.
