Smoky Mountain Wedding Ceremony – Donna and James

Smoky Mountain Wedding Ceremony

Donna and James – November 16, 2024

James and Donna’s Smoky Mountain wedding ceremony at Chapel in the Hollow was a heartfelt blend of rustic charm and deep love.  They chose a rich burgundy theme complemented by our red rose florals and a cozy lantern setup that lit their path to matrimony.
Donna was a vision in a halter style dress featuring a flowy chiffon train and a vintage-inspired long-sleeved lace bolero shrug. Her look was completed with sparkly white boots and a long lace-edged veil, adding a touch of whimsy. James embraced his rustic roots with jeans, a burgundy dress shirt, a stylish bolo tie, a cowboy hat, and a statement belt buckle.
The ceremony was filled with touching moments, including Donna walking halfway down the aisle alone to symbolize her independence before James joined her, a testament to their partnership. Tears welled in his eyes as he saw her approach, a sight more moving than he anticipated.
Donna carried her bouquet adorned with photos of her parents, ensuring they were with her every step of the way. The love between them was palpable—every touch, every glance filled with affection. James’s romantic gestures, like tenderly touching her face, elicited giggles of joy from Donna.
Their reception featured charming rustic details such as goblets carved to resemble antlers, a cake adorned with rocking chairs and rifles, and a cake serving set with raw wooden handles, all echoing their country roots. The cake was surrounded by beautiful, iridescent roses in memory of lost loved ones, adding a layer of sentiment to their celebration.
As the evening wrapped, the golden hues of the sunset on the mountains provided a stunning backdrop for their photos, capturing the essence of their love and the breathtaking beauty of East Tennessee.
Congratulations, James and Donna! Your wedding was a beautiful fusion of tradition, love, and nature, perfectly capturing the essence of your spirits. May your life together be as rich and vibrant as your beautiful wedding day!
From the Bride:

We met through a mutual friend at her beauty salon. The first time I saw James was through a window of the salon and felt a connection. We didn’t actually meet until my next hair visit when James came in to get a haircut and there I was with foils in my hair. I guess its true what they say about beauty is in the eye of the beholder because I swear that man only saw me in hair foils for the first few times we first saw each other. I was having issues with my AC and James happens to work on them so our mutual friend volunteered him to look at my air conditioner. Our love story did not fully begin until months later due to me moving away but one day I saw him on Facebook and he kept popping up and I took a leap of faith and called our mutual friend and told her I had a grown up crush on this man. Within a few minutes he texted me and our relationship began.

Per James he admits that when he would see my car he would stop at the hair salon and he also started watching me on Facebook, Two people afraid to take a leap but so glad we did.

James picked me up and took me to see Christmas lights. It had a magical feeling to it just like Christmas seems to do at that time of year. When James took me home he asked to see my hand because he wanted to know how it would feel in his. It fit perfectly and it felt like home.

James carried the ring around everywhere we went for 4 months before he proposed. He officially proposed at the Train station in Blue Ridge Ga during one of our mini vacations.

We originally thought of a beach wedding. Every beach we went to did not really feel right. My sister showed me this quaint little chapel with a mystique feel to it and even through photographs we both were very drawn to the area. We love how unique and personal this place is. We want our wedding to be romantic and personal.

James and I are looking forward to our intimate and spiritual joining of two souls. We look forward to making this memory together to share in our last chapter of life. This last chapter will be our love for God and becoming one in front of our family and friends.

We love the fall weather but we also chose this specific date because it is one day after the birthday of a very special lady. The mother of my future husband who is no longer with us.

We love our grandkids and love spending time with them. We have a total of 13!! We also love to take mini vacations to different areas.
