November Mini Wedding

Jen and Jerry joined us for a November mini wedding. They dressed the chapel in white fabric with our boho florals. They were so excited to be here!! She looked gorgeous in her lacy dress, and he was extra dapper in his suit. Congratulations, Jen and Jerry!

From the Bride:

We actually met online, not knowing that we only lived 5 minutes from each other and that we had both grown up on the west side of Cincinnati, even attending the high schools that are right next door to each other!
After texting for a few days, we decided to do a casual meeting at Starbucks on the Saturday after Thanksgiving that year. Jerry arrived notoriously late while I sat there drinking my Peppermint Hot Chocolate that I love that time of year. Jerry finally arrived and says he thought that I was prettier than the pictures I had had online. Jen’s initial thought was “Yay! He’s tall and very good looking!” We ended up talking for a few hours while sitting at Starbucks, Jerry talked A TON (which, if you know Jerry, that is not his norm!) Later in our relationship when I said I couldn’t believe how much he talked at our first meeting, he said “When I am talking with a beautiful woman I am nervous and talk alot.” When we left and were each walking to our cars, Jerry asked me to go out the following Saturday night…obviously I said yes!

For our first date, we went to dinner and to see a Christmas Play at a small local theater. Both of us were nervous but we were able to talk easily throughout dinner so it just felt very right. At the theater, I had a cold and it was awful because I had to keep coughing and I felt really dumb because it was very silent and I just kept having to cough so I was eating cough drops the whole time! After the play, we sat in Jerry’s car and talked for quite some time. Jerry talked about his work as a police officer and even said “I rarely talk about my work so I am not sure why I am.” That made me feel good that he felt comfortable to share his work with me when he said he usually doesn’t discuss it with people. The date ended with a very sweet kiss on my doorstep at the end of the night.

Jerry proposed on our 2 year anniversary, in the car. I completely thought he had forgotten our anniversary and was probably a little cranky because of that. When I said something about forgetting our anniversary, he said “Well I guess you don’t want what is in the glove compartment then.” When I opened the glove compartment there was a ring box with an engagement ring in it!

Why did we choose East Tennessee for our destination wedding? We have a trip planned to spend Thanksgiving in Asheville, North Carolina so then we decided we would get married over the Thanksgiving holiday. East Tennessee was much closer for our family/friends to drive so we looked for a place near Gatlinburg. I looked at many places but kept coming back to Chapel in the Hollow because of the rustic charm and beautiful setting.

I am looking forward to marrying the man I love, the man that is so good to me and my children! Jerry says he is looking forward to being able to actually call me wife. We didn’t realize it at the time of booking, but we are getting married in the same week that we were texting all those years ago and had our first meeting at Starbucks that week!
