Allyson and David – November 6, 2021
Fall Mini Wedding
For our first fall mini wedding of the day, Allyson and David joined us with their friends and family. They dressed the chapel in lavender and white with our blue and yellow florals. Her dress was simple but beautiful, and his grey suit looked great for fall! They incorporated their friends and family as part of the ceremony — bringing them up for readings. Congratulations, Allyson and David!
From the Bride:
David and I met online while at Johnson University. Truthfully, I don’t ever remember meeting him in person, but we became friends on social media. I actually ended up only being at that school for one semester. After a couple years of noticing his posts online, I decided to reach out and the rest is history. Over the years, he’s been one of my closest friends. In our years of friendship, prior to dating, there were times where one of us would be interested in pursuing the relationship further (and vice versa) and timing just didn’t seem to line up. But after some waiting and growth, and in God’s perfect timing, we finally decided to take a chance on “us” and I’m so glad we did.
I think we both consider our “first date,” to be the first time I came from St. Louis to Indy to visit him. It was nothing extravagant or elaborate. We spent the evening together, had Five Guys for dinner, talked and watched some stand up comedy.
David proposed! We both love playing board games together and one weekend that David was in town, we were getting ready to play one of our favorites. I had gone out of the room for a minute while David set up the game. This particular game has different “goods” that you can buy – one of them being silver rings. When I came back to start the game, I noticed that my hand was “stacked” with five rings (which didn’t look very random!). I asked him why my hand was full of rings, as he pulled out a ring and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes!
We decided on East Tennessee for a couple reasons. First, it’s where we met – at Johnson University in Knoxville. Secondly, would just be the beauty of the area. We love spending time together in nature and taking adventures. We think Chapel in the Hollow is absolutely beautiful, as well as the Smoky Mountains, and we can’t wait to explore more of Tennessee on our honeymoon.
We’re both looking forward to finally saying “I do!” After years of friendship and then long distance dating, we can’t wait to finally be husband and wife. We’re excited for all the details that will make up our special day, including an intimate ceremony with family and close friends. If we’re honest, we also can’t wait for some beautiful keepsake photos as well!
There’s no significance to the date we chose, other than the fact that we love fall and can’t wait to enjoy Tennessee in crisp weather!
We just enjoy time together. Our typical date night consists of movies or board games. It’s not uncommon to find us at a park for a hike or short walk. We’re looking forward to many adventures in the years to come!
