Afternoon Forest Elopement in the Smoky Mountains
Rebecca and Matthew – April 15, 2026
When couples imagine a Smoky Mountain forest elopement, they often picture peaceful woods, warm sunshine, meaningful vows, and a wedding day focused on what matters most. Rebecca and Matthew’s beautiful celebration at Chapel in the Hollow was exactly that kind of day — joyful, relaxed, romantic, and full of genuine excitement.
Their afternoon forest elopement in the Smoky Mountains blended simple elegance with the natural beauty of East Tennessee, creating a wedding day that felt effortless and unforgettable. With spring sunshine filtering through the trees and smiles from start to finish, these two reminded everyone that sometimes the sweetest weddings are also the simplest.
A Bright and Cheerful Forest Wedding Design
Rebecca and Matthew chose décor that felt light, fresh, and perfect for a spring wedding in the woods. They dressed the chapel in gold and white fabric, paired with our dusky blue and yellow florals and accented everything with our gold and mini candle package.
The result was cheerful and romantic without overpowering the natural surroundings. One of the best things about getting married at Chapel in the Hollow is that the forest itself becomes part of your wedding design. Towering trees, seasonal greenery, and soft natural light create a stunning backdrop all on their own.
Their chosen palette brought warmth and brightness into the space while still feeling timeless. Gold added a soft glow, white kept everything crisp and elegant, and the florals introduced a playful touch of color that worked beautifully with the spring setting.
For couples planning a forest elopement in Tennessee, soft seasonal colors like these are always a wonderful choice.
A Bride Full of Grace and Joy
Rebecca looked absolutely lovely as she made her way to the chapel. She wore a spaghetti strap wedding dress that was classic, flattering, and perfect for a warm spring afternoon. Her white chunky heels gave her look a modern touch while still being practical for an outdoor celebration.
She completed everything with a delicate hair piece that added just the right amount of sparkle and elegance. Her entire look felt effortless — polished without being overdone, beautiful without trying too hard.
Outdoor elopements often bring out the best bridal style because couples choose what feels authentic rather than what feels expected. Rebecca’s look was a perfect example of that balance.
A Groom Ready for Forever
Matthew kept his style clean and classic in dress pants and a dress shirt, a timeless look that perfectly complemented the laid-back tone of the day. His outfit felt refined but comfortable — ideal for a spring wedding in the Smoky Mountains.
Together, Rebecca and Matthew looked exactly like themselves: elegant, easygoing, and incredibly happy to be marrying one another.
That kind of authenticity always photographs beautifully, and it makes the day feel even more meaningful.
Walking Into Marriage Side by Side
One of the most touching parts of their ceremony was that they walked down the aisle together.
There is something deeply symbolic about couples choosing to begin their marriage side by side from the very first step. It reflects partnership, equality, and the idea that this next chapter is something they’re entering together.
As they walked into the chapel smiling, surrounded by trees and sunshine, you could feel the excitement between them. There was no nervous tension — just joy, anticipation, and the happiness of finally reaching this moment.
For couples planning a micro wedding in the Smoky Mountains, walking in together can be such a beautiful option.
Personal Vows in the Tennessee Woods
During the ceremony, Rebecca and Matthew exchanged personal vows, creating one of those moments that feels both intimate and unforgettable.
Custom vows always bring something extra to an elopement or micro wedding. They allow couples to speak directly from the heart and make the ceremony uniquely theirs.
These two were so clearly thrilled to be standing there together, promising forever beneath the trees. Their smiles said just as much as their words.
That’s one reason so many couples choose smaller weddings: there’s room for emotion, room for connection, and room to actually experience the moment instead of rushing through it.
If you’re considering writing your own vows, our couples often say it becomes one of their favorite memories of the entire day.
Exploring the Property for Wedding Portraits
After the ceremony, we took full advantage of the beautiful afternoon light and explored the property for portraits. One of the perks of getting married at Chapel in the Hollow is access to multiple scenic locations all in one place, giving couples variety without needing to travel far.
Rebecca and Matthew visited:
- The Chapel – timeless and romantic with their ceremony décor still glowing
- The Archway – a favorite for whimsical woodland portraits
- The Creek – peaceful and naturally beautiful
- The Sign – perfect for celebratory just-married photos
- The Highlands – open and airy with gorgeous light
- The Tractor – rustic East Tennessee charm
- The Bridal Suite – cozy and elegant for intimate indoor-style portraits
Each stop gave their gallery a different feel while keeping the same joyful energy throughout.
They laughed, held hands, soaked in the sunshine, and simply enjoyed being newly married in the Smoky Mountains.
Why Afternoon Elopements Are So Popular

- Beautiful golden tones later in the afternoon
For spring weddings especially, afternoon light creates a soft glow that makes the forest feel even more magical.
From the Bride:
We met on an online dating site. The first date was very casual. We watched a movie and chatted to get to know each other better.
Rebecca hinted to Matthew several times that she wanted to get married while they were on vacation in Tennessee. Matthew finally agreed.Matthew had already had a vacation planned in Tennessee before he met me. After spending quality time with Matthew I realized that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. And so I decided that we should get married while on vacation.
We are most looking forward to the creation of a beautiful memory by exchanging our wedding vows in a romantic setting, just the 2 of us that we will remember forever.
