Morning Forest Elopement

A Joyful Smoky Mountain Micro Wedding at Chapel in the Hollow

There’s something incredibly special about a morning forest elopement in the Smoky Mountains. The light filters softly through the trees, the air feels fresh and peaceful, and the world seems to slow down for just a moment. That quiet magic was exactly what Angela and Michael experienced when they chose Chapel in the Hollow for their heartfelt morning forest elopement in East Tennessee.

Their celebration was full of laughter, meaningful family moments, and the natural beauty that makes a Smoky Mountain micro wedding so unforgettable.

A Natural Forest Setting for a Smoky Mountain Elopement

Nestled in the woods just outside the Great Smoky Mountains, Chapel in the Hollow is known for its whimsical forest setting and relaxed atmosphere that allows couples to create a wedding day that truly reflects them. For Angela and Michael, the peaceful surroundings made it the perfect place to celebrate their love with family by their side.

They dressed the chapel in hunter green and sand fabric, creating an earthy palette that blended beautifully with the surrounding forest. The décor was completed with succulent florals and succulent wreaths lining the pews, adding texture and organic charm that perfectly complemented their woodland setting.

The overall aesthetic felt effortlessly natural — exactly what many couples dream of when planning a forest elopement in Tennessee.

A Stylish and Personal Look for the Bride and Groom

Angela brought a wonderful pop of color to the forest with her gorgeous teal dress paired with boots, creating a look that felt both elegant and adventurous. Her choice of color stood out beautifully against the greens of the woods and the soft neutral décor of the chapel.

Michael kept things classic and relaxed in a black dress shirt, jeans, and a black cowboy hat, adding a touch of rustic charm that fit perfectly with their Smoky Mountain setting.

One of the sweetest details of the day came from Angela’s daughter, who created their bouquets herself. Handmade floral details always add something extra special to a wedding day, and this thoughtful gesture made the celebration even more meaningful for the couple.

A Family-Focused Ceremony in the Woods

Angela and Michael’s elopement was about more than just the two of them — it was also a celebration of the family they share together.

Their granddaughters and grandsons stood with them during the ceremony, making the moment feel deeply personal and filled with love. These types of family-centered ceremonies are one of the things that make micro weddings and elopements at Chapel in the Hollow so special.

In a moment that perfectly captured their joyful personalities, Angela and Michael walked down the aisle together, smiling and laughing the entire way. It was relaxed, heartfelt, and completely them.

Their ceremony was officiated by Ian Parrott, whose warm presence helped guide them through their vows in the peaceful forest setting.

Exploring the Property for Smoky Mountain Wedding Photos

After the ceremony, the newlyweds celebrated with family photos before sneaking away for romantic portraits around the property with Star Noir Studio.

Chapel in the Hollow offers a variety of unique photo locations, allowing couples to capture a diverse gallery without ever leaving the property. Angela and Michael explored several of the venue’s favorite spots, including:

  • The chapel itself, surrounded by towering trees

  • The rustic archway tucked into the forest

  • The beloved mossy tree, a dreamy woodland backdrop

  • The vintage truck, perfect for relaxed Smoky Mountain photos

  • The peaceful creek, where the forest light sparkles across the water

Throughout their portraits, Angela and Michael were playful, giggly, and clearly head-over-heels in love, making every moment feel authentic and joyful.

The warm March morning added the perfect glow to their photos, proving that spring elopements in the Smoky Mountains offer some of the most beautiful natural light of the year.

From the Bride:

We met online, both in our later years. We met at a steak house for our first date and had a good time. Michael proposed at the top of Schweitzer Mountain in Sandpoint Idaho. We were there visiting friends. We chose East Tennessee for our wedding because my daughter lives here and we both love the Smoky Mountains. We hope to move here when we retire. We are looking forward to being married and celebrating with our kids and grand kids – no big wedding, just us. We picked this date because of our grandkids it is their spring break.

In our spare time we love to camp, fish,  and have movie night. We have two toy goldendoodles and we enjoy just being home with them. Love being with grand kids.
