Midsummer Micro Wedding
Chloe and Brent – July 20, 2024
From the Bride
Brent and I met when I first started working at O’Charleys restaurant in January 2017. He had worked there previously and came into see some old coworkers. He was sitting at the bar talking to the bartender. I came up to the well to get a drink and he turned to me and said ” well hello! how are you?” I replied with ” I’m good, how are you?”. The bartender said, ” see this is why we like Chloe, she knows everyone!” I said ” oh I don’t know him, I was just being friendly.” As soon as I walked away I could see her talking to Brent. She later asked me if I had a boyfriend (I did not). I came back out to the well to get another drink and Brent said ” if you’re not busy later would you like to go get a drink with me?” I told him I was going back to Richmond where I lived to meet up with a friend later, but he was welcome to join us. He made the drive from Georgetown to Richmond only to get to the Paddy Wagon 20 minutes before it closed. He gave me and my friend a ride home after the bar closed. We ended up talking for 3 hours outside that night. Our first official date was at Palmers Fresh Grill, where Brent worked at the time. He introduced me to all his friends and coworkers. It was close to Valentines Day so we said it was in celebration of that. It was my first time eating in a more ” upscale” restaurant and I felt out of place for a bit. We then went to a local dive bar called Malibu Pub and stayed out talking until 3am.
Brent proposed while we were at Disney World. We got there on a Monday and he proposed on Wednesday. He was so nervous. I knew he was acting weird. He thought about proposing in one of the parks but didn’t want to draw a lot of attention to us and make us feel awkward. (I’m glad he didn’t). It was about 7 am, still in bed, I was making reservation for the day at Magic Kingdom (I was barely awake). He made me some coffee then started going through his suitcase. The next thing I know I look over and he is down on his knee and asked me ” will you marry me?”. He was so nervous he opened the ring box upside down.
We decided on East Tennessee for our midsummer micro wedding because we wanted to have a small wedding that was close for both sides of the family. Growing up we both have been coming to east TN for vacations countless times. On our wedding day I am most looking forward to getting to wear my beautiful wedding bands!!!!
