Laid Back Elopement – Brooke and Martin

Laid Back Elopement

Brooke and Martin – June 9, 2024

Brooke and Martin celebrated their love with a wonderfully laid-back elopement at Chapel in the Hollow, surrounded by the rustic charm of dusty sage and peach fabrics. Adding a personal touch to their decor, Brooke brought floral arrangements crafted from flowers grown on her friend’s flower farm, beautifully accentuating the intimate setting.
Brooke looked stunning in a spaghetti strap dress featuring a lace-edged train and delicate lace overlay cutouts at the sides. Her recently dyed hair added a vibrant pop of color, complementing her radiant bridal look. She met her dad partway down the aisle, who then proudly escorted her to a waiting Martin. Martin kept his style simple yet elegant, wearing a white dress shirt with suspenders.
Their children played special roles in the ceremony: his daughter acted as both best woman and maid of honor, while her daughter served as ring bearer and flower girl, adding a layer of familial warmth to the occasion. Her daughter was moved to tears during the ceremony, touched by the moment’s emotion.
The family unity was further symbolized by a sand ceremony, in which both girls participated, visually representing the blending of their lives. The couple’s four dogs were also in attendance, joyfully witnessing their owners’ vows.
Following the heartfelt vows they made to each other, the celebration concluded with a fun bubble exit. Brooke brought two uniquely themed cakes—one inspired by “Nightmare Before Christmas” and the other featuring a couple riding a motorcycle atop a wooden stump, perfectly reflecting their personalities and shared interests.
The day ended with photos against the backdrop of the mountains, capturing the last light of the day and the start of their new life together.
Congratulations, Brooke and Martin! May your journey ahead be as joyful and love-filled as your beautiful wedding day.
From the Bride:
We met June 12, 2021, at a crawfish boil at my parents’ neighborhood pool. Literal cliche, of when you’re not looking for it, it happens. He came to the party with a neighbor’s friend, and we have not left each others side since then!
For the first date, we went to eat Mexican and then went back to his house and sat out back on the porch talking and listening to music.
He proposed while we were on vacation in Colorado. Colorado is where my daughter and I will always call home. I lived there for 11 years and moved back to MS in 2017, to help care for my disabled father. Our last stop on the trip was to Colorado Springs, to visit the Garden of the Gods. There were so many couples doing engagement photos, and every time he would decide he was going to do it, something would happen, such as getting told to move over by photographers because we’re in their shot! You can see the annoyance on his face in photos and Mae (my daughter) and I being completely oblivious. Anyway, in true fashion of us, we walk off the beaten path and climb some illegal climbing rocks to get a view of the valley below, and as I turn around he’s on one knee, with a ring, proposing to both myself and Mae. I thought he was joking at first bc I was caught so off guard, but it was the most perfect proposal that I never thought I’d imagine having myself! Always the bridesmaid but never the bride.
We knew we didn’t want a huge wedding, and I did not want to get married in Jackson, MS. My mother’s friend knew someone that got married at Chapel in the Hollow and told her about it. As soon as I saw pictures of the Chapel, I knew, that’s where I want to have our laid back elopement. It was like that feeling when you find the perfect dress, it’s just a complete YES! This is it!
Aside from marrying my best friend, I’m most excited about PHOTOS! The date is an inside joke between the two of us!
We enjoy going to concerts and traveling together! We also love the outdoors, spending time together and with ours kids and animals. On a typical night, after the house is settled, to decompress, we play Mario kart! We also enjoy sitting out on the swing in our backyard by the chimenea, listening to music.
