East Tennessee Mountain Micro Wedding – Hunter and Jesse

East Tennessee Mountain Micro Wedding

Hunter + Jesse – October 9, 2026

Some weddings have gorgeous details. Some have incredible scenery. And some have enough happy tears to make you seriously consider adding tissues to your photography equipment list. Hunter and Jesse’s wedding managed to deliver all three, along with a fabulous vintage chair, sparkly wedding sneakers, and one of the prettiest mountain backdrops October could have given us. 🍂❤️

These two chose Chapel in the Hollow for their East Tennessee mountain micro wedding on October 9, and their day was such a beautiful combination of romance, personality, and family. They dressed the chapel in warm autumn colors, brought along some incredibly thoughtful personal details, and made sure their wedding photos included a little old-fashioned glamour alongside all that gorgeous Smoky Mountain scenery.

But as much as I loved the styling and the beautiful fall light, what really stood out was how much love surrounded these two. Between Hunter’s emotional first looks with her family, Jesse’s reaction to seeing his bride, and all the sweet moments throughout the ceremony, this was one of those weddings where you could practically feel how happy everyone was for them.

And yes, Hunter’s dad cried. A LOT. But we’ll get to that. 😂❤️

A Romantic October Wedding in the Tennessee Woods

Hunter and Jesse dressed the chapel in textured rust fabric with our bohemian florals and lantern package, creating a warm, romantic setting that looked absolutely gorgeous against the surrounding forest.

Textured rust is one of my favorite colors for fall weddings because it brings in those rich autumn tones without needing the entire forest to have changed colors yet. Paired with the bohemian florals, it gave the chapel a cozy, slightly rustic feeling that worked beautifully for an October celebration.

The lanterns added another romantic touch, and everything felt wonderfully suited to a small wedding in the woods. There was enough decoration to make the ceremony space feel special, but the natural beauty of the forest still played a big role in the overall atmosphere.

I especially loved how their color choices worked with their wedding outfits. Hunter’s soft bridal look and Jesse’s dark green suit were beautiful against the warm rust fabric, and the combination felt perfectly appropriate for an autumn wedding in East Tennessee.

Hunter’s Thoughtful Wedding Details

Before we even got to the ceremony, Hunter had already given me plenty of beautiful things to photograph. She came prepared with a collection of personal details that made it obvious how much thought she’d put into their wedding day.

She brought the cutest little picture-frame-style ring holder, a beautiful invitation suite, and a sentimental handkerchief monogrammed with both her mom’s initials and her own. I absolutely love details like that because they add a layer of meaning to the wedding day that goes beyond simply looking pretty.

The handkerchief was especially sweet. Having both sets of initials embroidered together created a lovely connection between Hunter and her mom, and it was such a meaningful piece to include among her wedding details.

She also had one of the coolest personalized wedding ideas I’ve seen in a while.

Hunter created her own perfume and named it October 9, after their wedding date. 😍

How amazing is that?!

I love the idea of having a custom scent associated with such an important day. Smell can bring back memories so vividly, and now Hunter has a fragrance connected to the day she married Jesse. Years from now, wearing it could bring back little pieces of their wedding all over again.

Between the perfume, the sentimental handkerchief, and her carefully chosen accessories, Hunter had created a beautiful collection of keepsakes that felt genuinely personal.

A Gorgeous Wedding Dress and Sparkly Skechers

Hunter looked absolutely stunning in a soft, long-sleeved wedding dress with a low neckline and a beautiful flowing train. The dress had such a romantic feel, and the movement of the fabric looked gorgeous against the forest.

She wore her hair up, which showed off the neckline of her dress beautifully and gave her whole bridal look an elegant, polished finish.

And then there were her shoes.

Sparkly rhinestone Skechers. ✨😂

I LOVE this choice.

Wedding shoes don’t have to be uncomfortable to be fabulous, and Hunter clearly understood that. Her sneakers brought plenty of sparkle while keeping things practical for an outdoor wedding and all the walking we had planned for photos.

Honestly, I think more brides should embrace comfortable wedding shoes. You can have a gorgeous dress, beautiful jewelry, and all the romantic details you want without spending your entire wedding day wondering when you can finally take your heels off.

Hunter managed to combine elegance and comfort perfectly, and I was absolutely here for it.

Jesse’s Dark Green Wedding Suit

Jesse looked equally handsome in a dark green suit from Mayo’s Suits, paired with a golden flower boutonniere.

I have been loving all the grooms choosing colors other than traditional black and navy lately, and Jesse’s suit was a fantastic example of why. The deep green looked incredible against the rust-colored chapel decorations and the autumn forest.

The golden boutonniere added a beautiful little contrast, bringing some warmth to his outfit while tying into the overall fall color palette.

Together, Hunter and Jesse looked amazing. Her soft, romantic dress and his rich green suit complemented each other beautifully, and their outfits were especially striking against the natural scenery.

Of course, Jesse’s suit was about to become slightly less important than his reaction to seeing Hunter for the first time.

But first, her dad and brother had a turn.

First Looks With Dad and Brother

Before the ceremony, Hunter’s mom helped her get dressed and get everything ready for the big moment. With her hair up, her beautiful dress in place, and all those thoughtful details coming together, she was absolutely gorgeous.

Then it was time for a special first look with her brother and dad.

And y’all, her dad was DONE FOR. 🥹❤️

The moment he saw Hunter dressed for her wedding, the tears started. Her brother may have gotten a little misty-eyed himself, but Dad was definitely leading the emotional department.

I love photographing first looks with family members because you never quite know what kind of reaction you’re going to get. Sometimes everyone laughs, sometimes there’s a big hug, and sometimes a dad sees his daughter in her wedding dress and immediately loses all ability to keep it together.

Hunter’s dad was firmly in that last category.

It was such a sweet moment, and I loved that Hunter had made time for it before the ceremony. These are the kinds of photographs that become even more meaningful as the years go by.

And as it turned out, Dad was nowhere near finished crying.

An Emotional Walk Down the Aisle

When ceremony time arrived, Hunter’s dad had the honor of walking her down the aisle toward Jesse.

Jesse turned around to see his bride, and I’m pretty sure I heard some audible sniffles coming from him, too. Seeing Hunter in her gorgeous wedding dress was clearly a pretty emotional moment, and I loved watching his reaction.

Meanwhile, Hunter’s dad continued crying through pretty much the entire ceremony.

Honestly, everyone was doing great. Totally fine. Not emotional at all. 😂😭

There’s something incredibly sweet about a wedding where people aren’t afraid to show how much the moment means to them. Hunter and Jesse were surrounded by family who clearly loved them, and those happy tears were such a beautiful reminder of how important the day was.

The warm autumn decorations framed the chapel, the forest created a peaceful backdrop, and Hunter and Jesse exchanged their vows surrounded by people who were genuinely excited to see them married.

It was intimate, emotional, and absolutely lovely.

Finally Husband and Wife!

After all those happy tears and heartfelt moments, Hunter and Jesse officially became husband and wife!

I love the energy that follows a wedding ceremony, especially when everyone has been so emotionally invested in the couple. There’s this wonderful shift from anticipation to celebration, and suddenly all the excitement of getting married turns into the happiness of actually being married.

For Hunter and Jesse, that meant gathering their family for some quick photos around the chapel before heading off for their newlywed portraits.

And Hunter had a PLAN.

A very specific, very fabulous plan.

I absolutely love a bride who comes into her wedding day with a creative vision, especially when that vision involves something a little unexpected.

In this case, it involved a chair.

But not just any chair.

A Vintage Chair in the Middle of the Forest

Hunter had borrowed a gorgeous green and gold chair from her dad’s office and brought it along specifically for wedding photos.

And I am SO glad she did.

After taking some romantic couple portraits around the chapel, we hauled that beautiful chair out to the gravel road for a series of vintage-inspired wedding portraits.

Hunter wanted that fancy, old-school, over-the-mantle portrait look. You know the kind: dramatic, elegant photographs that look like they belong in a giant ornate frame hanging above the fireplace in a historic mansion.

Except ours were happening on a little gravel road in the Tennessee woods, with a bride wearing rhinestone Skechers and a groom in a dark green suit.

Which somehow made the whole thing even better. 😂💚

The green and gold chair coordinated beautifully with Jesse’s suit and the surrounding autumn colors. It added this wonderful touch of vintage glamour without feeling out of place in the forest.

I loved the contrast between the formal portrait style and the natural setting. There was something wonderfully playful about creating these elegant, almost regal photographs in the middle of the woods.

And Hunter and Jesse looked AMAZING.

Bringing a Personal Vision to Wedding Photos

One of my favorite things about Hunter and Jesse’s wedding was how willing they were to incorporate personal ideas into their photographs.

A lot of couples love romantic, natural portraits, and we definitely captured plenty of those. But Hunter also wanted something with a little extra personality, and that green and gold chair gave us the perfect opportunity to create it.

I think wedding photos should reflect the couple rather than following exactly the same formula every time. Sometimes that means bringing along a sentimental item, choosing a location that has special meaning, or adding a prop that creates a completely different atmosphere.

For Hunter and Jesse, it meant mixing soft, romantic forest portraits with dramatic vintage-inspired images.

And the combination worked beautifully.

Their East Tennessee mountain micro wedding already had so many thoughtful details, so it felt completely appropriate for their portraits to have that same personal touch.

Once we’d finished having fun with the chair, it was time for one last adventure.

And the Smoky Mountains were ready for their close-up.

Dreamy Evening Light in the Smoky Mountains

We headed out to the field with the mountain view for the final part of Hunter and Jesse’s wedding photos, and OH MY GOODNESS.

The Smokies were showing OFF. 🏔️🍂

We had the most beautiful soft evening light, gorgeous autumn scenery, and just enough moodiness in the distant mountains to make everything feel extra romantic.

I absolutely love photographing couples in the mountains during October because the scenery can change so much depending on the light and weather. Sometimes the mountains are crisp and clear, while other times they have this beautiful, hazy softness that makes the entire landscape feel dreamy.

For Hunter and Jesse, the light was absolutely gorgeous. The mountains stretched out behind them, the fall colors added warmth to the landscape, and everything had this peaceful, romantic atmosphere.

And these two looked so ridiculously happy together.

After all the emotions of the ceremony and the fun of their vintage chair portraits, it was lovely to finish their wedding day with some quiet moments overlooking the mountains.

Romantic Mountain Wedding Portraits

There’s something especially beautiful about seeing a newly married couple standing together with the Smoky Mountains behind them.

The scenery is obviously gorgeous, but what I love most is the way those photographs capture a little piece of the experience of getting married in East Tennessee.

For Hunter and Jesse, the mountain portraits were the perfect finishing touch to a day that had already been filled with meaningful moments. They’d shared an emotional ceremony with their family, taken photos around the chapel, and had a little fun creating vintage-inspired portraits on the gravel road.

Now they got to enjoy the view together as husband and wife.

Hunter’s flowing dress looked beautiful in the soft evening light, and Jesse’s dark green suit was especially handsome against the autumn landscape. The warm colors and moody mountain backdrop created exactly the romantic atmosphere we’d hoped for.

It was one of those moments when everything comes together beautifully: the couple, the scenery, the light, and the happiness of the day.

And honestly, it’s hard to ask for much more than that.

Why Smaller Weddings Can Feel So Meaningful

Hunter and Jesse’s celebration was such a wonderful example of how much emotion and personality can fit into a micro wedding.

A smaller guest list doesn’t mean a smaller love story, and it certainly doesn’t mean you have to give up the things that make your wedding special.

These two had beautiful decorations, thoughtful keepsakes, emotional family moments, and a gorgeous ceremony. They also made time for creative portraits, beautiful mountain scenery, and plenty of fun along the way.

What I especially loved was how the smaller celebration allowed those meaningful moments to stand out. Hunter had time for first looks with her dad and brother, their family was able to share in the ceremony, and afterward we could focus on the photographs that were most important to the couple.

Their wedding felt personal from beginning to end.

And that’s really what makes a celebration memorable. It’s not about how many people attend or how elaborate everything looks. It’s about the people, the emotions, and all those little details that make the day feel like yours.

A Little Vintage Glamour and a Whole Lot of Love

When I think back on Hunter and Jesse’s wedding, there are so many details that make me smile.

Hunter’s custom October 9 perfume was such a creative way to remember their wedding date. The handkerchief embroidered with her initials and her mom’s was a lovely sentimental touch, and the picture-frame ring holder and invitation suite made their wedding details especially beautiful.

I loved her soft, romantic dress and sparkly Skechers, and Jesse’s dark green suit was absolutely perfect for their autumn color palette.

Then there were the emotional moments. Hunter’s mom helping her get ready, the first look with her dad and brother, Jesse’s reaction when he saw her walking down the aisle, and all those happy tears throughout the ceremony.

And, of course, I can’t forget that fabulous green and gold chair.

The vintage-inspired portraits were such a fun addition to their wedding gallery, and finishing the evening with those dreamy Smoky Mountain views made everything feel even more special.

But what really made their day wonderful was how happy Hunter and Jesse were together. Their families were so sweet, everyone was excited to celebrate them, and the whole wedding felt filled with love.

Congratulations, Hunter and Jesse!

Hunter and Jesse’s East Tennessee mountain micro wedding was the perfect combination of beautiful autumn styling, meaningful family moments, creative personal details, and gorgeous Smoky Mountain scenery.

From their emotional ceremony in the woods to the dramatic vintage chair portraits and the soft evening light overlooking the mountains, every part of their day had something special to offer.

I loved that Hunter wasn’t afraid to bring her own ideas into the celebration, and I loved how much personality both she and Jesse brought to their wedding.

A custom wedding-day perfume. Sparkly sneakers. A handsome groom in green. A dad who couldn’t stop crying. A fabulous vintage chair. And two very happy newlyweds surrounded by beautiful October scenery.

I’d say that’s a pretty fantastic wedding day. 🍂💚

Congratulations, Hunter and Jesse!! We absolutely loved celebrating with you and your family. Here’s to a lifetime of happiness, plenty of adventures together, and many more beautiful moments worth remembering.

And to Hunter’s dad, I hope someone had a fresh box of tissues waiting for you afterward. 😂❤️

From the Bride:

On November 30,2022, I said a prayer on a random Wednesday “God please just send me the man I’m supposed to marry. Please make sure he knows he’s for me, and has a heart for You.” Of course I added in a few other specifics (bonus points if he’s funny with a beard lol). Exactly 3 days later, we met at a bonfire, and by the end of that night he turned to me and said “I’m going to marry you one day.” Of course I laughed and said “I think you’re delusional.” haha …God had a plan and Jesse was in on it. I could not imagine doing life without him. He is my very best friend.

The night we met he asked “So are we going on a date tomorrow?” I agreed, but did not think he would actually remember. Sure enough, the next day he sent me a message wanting to go to our town‘s Christmas parade. We went to the Christmas parade and we walked up on this random group of people that he seemed to know. We both sat down, and it wasn’t until around 15 minutes later that I asked how he knew these people. He then informed me that I had been sitting by his mom the whole time and this random group of people was his entire family. After the parade we went to dinner and he took me to see Christmas lights. We hung out almost every day after that.

He proposed to me in front of a massive Christmas tree in Savannah, Georgia. He asked me to take a picture in front of the tree then got down on one knee. Everyone around us started cheering. He did not tell anyone his plan. His dad was so surprised he started running around shouting “oh my gosh he did it! Everyone look!”

We chose East Tennessee for our East Tennessee mountain micro wedding because the mountains are my favorite place to be and we both love traveling. Nothing beats the fall views. I’m most excited for the pictures and being surrounded by our favorite people. October is my favorite month. I love a moody vibe so fall is beautiful, especially in the mountains. His birthday is actually two days after our wedding.

I love to read woodburn/carve, see waterfalls. He is a car guy. We like to go to car shows, travel, go to ATV parks, and hang out with friends. We prefer memories over material things. We are actually going to Italy for our honeymoon on a 10 day cruise.
