Lacey and Kody – August 1, 2020
Intimate East Tennessee Weddings
Lacey and Kody brought their families to us for the second of our intimate East Tennessee weddings on August 1st all the way from Kentucky. She chose a long veil in a taupe/blush color that was to die for and beautifully complimented her gorgeous dress. Kody isn’t a huge fan of pictures, but we did manage to squeeze a smile or two out of him. They brought in some adorable wooden chairs to add in extra seating for the ceremony, and they looked great in the woodland atmosphere. The cake is so unique–I love the detail with their initials. Nicole with Custom Love was an amazing help getting everything set up and playing with the veil for photos!
From the Bride:
We met online, we were both too busy between school at work to meet people the regular way. For the first date, I went to Kodys apartment and we watched Black Panther. I met his dog, Chief. Chief got excited and peed on me and jumped up and ripped a hole in my leggings.
Kody proposed. It was the day after Thanksgiving, we had gone to my family’s dinner first (where he asked permission), then we were going to go back to our home in Lexington Ky (3 hours away), stay the night, and get up and go to his families dinner the next day (3 more hours in the opposite direction of my families house, with our home in the middle). He had planned to propose once we got back home, but I was supposed to be giving direction to get back home and we got to talking on the way and I forgot to be watching where we were going. We ended up going the wrong direction for about an hour, and ended up going straight on through to his dads house. We stopped on the way at Cumberland Falls (hoping to see the moon now, but no such luck). We got out (it was dark by now, around 9-10pm) and walked the dogs down to the bottom of the falls and that’s where he proposed.
Kody grew up in Harlan, Ky in the same mountain range, I’ve always loved the mountains, and have gone to Gatlinburg in family vacations many times. My parents also got married in Gatlinburg. Both of us are mostly introverts, so we knew we wanted something small, private and intimate. Chapel in the Hollow was the perfect place!
I was most looking forward to finally getting to go through with it after rescheduling once before, and gorgeous pictures of both of us. We rarely get/take pictures together (Kody doesn’t like pictures and only very reluctantly smiles for them, and I don’t mind pictures but don’t go out of my way to get them).
For fun, we like to watch movies, play with the dogs and take the dogs on walks, go off roading.
