February Mini Wedding – Kitty and JR

February Mini Wedding

February 5, 2025 – Kitty and JR

Kitty and JR’s February elopement at Chapel in the Hollow was a heartfelt celebration of love and family heritage, set against the serene backdrop of the Smoky Mountains.  The chapel was beautifully adorned with cream and hunter green fabric, complemented by our delicate white and succulent florals, all nestled amongst our enchanting winter tree package.
Kitty was absolutely stunning in a cap sleeve, cream lacy dress featuring a unique multilayered asymmetrical hemline, perfectly paired with tall, cream vintage-style boots. She wore jewelry passed down from her family. JR’s attire was strikingly coordinated in black, featuring a leather vest and a standout bolero adorned with a coin from the year her grandfather was born, showing a deep connection to their roots. His look was completed with a leather hat emblazoned with his initials.
The ceremony was filled with personal touches, with Kitty walking herself down the aisle to a beaming JR, whose face lit up with joy and love at the sight of her. JR’s brother added a familial warmth as he performed the ceremony, making the day even more special.
After the vows were exchanged, the couple enjoyed a photo session around the property, capturing their love amidst the soft, cloudy light of a warm February day. The Smoky Mountains provided a breathtaking backdrop, echoing the beauty of their union.
Congratulations, Kitty and JR! Your February mini wedding was a perfect blend of love, tradition, and natural beauty. Here’s to many more years of happiness and togetherness!
From the Bride:
JR was remodeling his daughter’s house which sits across the road from me. We would talk briefly if he saw me working in my yard or out walking my dogs. Then after about a year and just a handful of those brief talks, he asked me for my phone number. That was on May 25, 2024. He’s a little bit Hillbilly and I’m a little bit Boho/Hippie but we’ve found a way to complement each other, and we have been pretty much inseparable ever since.
For the first date, we met up at a park not too far from my house in the afternoon and talked until the sun went down.
JR took me out on the boat to watch the 4th of July fireworks…and after about an hour, he got down on one knee. I found out later that he had talked to my son to ask his blessing. My son exclaimed that this was awfully quick, and JR told him that at our age (we’re both in our 60’s) you know when you know…and life is short 😉
We chose East Tennessee for our February mini wedding because we live there.
Just two people who found love again in our old age…we’re looking forward to our union as one, and to keeping each other young at heart for the rest of our lives.
JR asked me for my number on 5/25. We originally planned to be married on 5/25/25 with our families surrounding us, but we decided to elope instead, so we left off the first “5” and the venue we choose had 2/5/25 available…yeah!
Besides spending time with our families whenever we get the chance (7 grandchildren between us), we like to explore new areas, find quirky little places to stop and experience new adventures, and we especially love our mutual desire to put God first in all that we do.
