Kayla and Travis – October 23, 2022
Fall Micro Wedding
Kayla and Travis joined us for a fall micro wedding. They dressed the chapel in white with our white florals. This was such a fun one for us! She did a first look with all of her girls, he dropped a few tears when he saw her walk down the aisle, and they had such a great crowd. Her dress was a fantasy concoction of tulle and moved so beautifully. I think you’re going to be as mesmerized by the road pictures as I am — those trees are really showing off this year — not to mention the cute couple center stage! Congratulations, Kayla and Travis!!
From the Couple:
Travis and Kayla met at Maryville College Travis’ freshman year. Kayla played soccer. Travis played baseball. It was practically love at first site and Kayla was determined to know more about the “new, really good freshman baseball player.” Their first date was to Macaroni Grill in Knoxville. On the drive from Maryville to Knoxville, Travis took a pit stop at his parents’ house where Kayla met his mom for the first time. Kayla was a little freaked out because Travis’ mom kept saying how excited she was they were dating. Kayla was SO nervous at dinner, but still slammed an entire plate of pasta + breadsticks. After dinner, Travis took Kayla to a romantic spot by the lake before heading back to campus.
Travis and Kayla conquered a long distance relationship from Memphis to Knoxville for ~1 year. Kayla was in Knoxville to run a half marathon first weekend of October. Upon arrival after a long drive, Travis had wine poured and a thin crust pepperoni pizza on the table waiting to be devoured. After Kayla sat down on the couch, Travis started a conversation stating “remember you told me to always be honest with you if something happened again..” As he said this, Kayla’s heart sank through her butt in guarded heartbreak. While at the same time, Travis was leaning towards the floor and reached under the couch to grab something. Travis popped the “will you marry me question” with all the supportive love and emotions. Kayla was COMPLETELY shocked, but easily said “yes.”
Our second proposal was completely us- in our now shared home, just us two, with our dogs, Kayla covered in dog hair and hair a natural mess from the car ride, and the beginning of the Fall season. Kayla ran her half marathon that weekend (in complete chilly rainy weather) followed by a weekend spent together at the lake.
Why get married in East Tennessee? We LOVE Knoxville. Knoxville is home to us. Maryville College, the Vols, full seasonal colors, beautiful weather, outdoor activities. Originally, we wanted to get married at the family lakehouse in Nancy, KY on Lake Cumberland. Kayla found Chapel in the Hollow through a browsed Facebook post and instantly fell in love with the setting and size of the venue. We quickly realized planning a “dream” wedding could be easier and more manageable and simple than we anticipating. And we’re staying Home Sweet Home to tie the knot.
Travis is looking forward to getting married. Kayla says, marrying my man, feeling like a beautiful princess in my dress and glam, my closet family members and friends gathered together to celebrate my relationship, the fall weather and colors. We LOVE the Fall! This is our favorite time of year. And it so happens to be Maryville College and UT homecoming weekend.
We love making eachother laugh about anything and everything. We try to be social with our friends, but most likely would rather stay home being lazy and cuddled up with our doggies. When Travis finds time to relax outside of cutting yards and long hours at the office, he enjoys playing co-ed softball, catching up on YouTube shows, projects around the house, and eating gallons of ice cream. Kayla enjoys getting lost in a good thriller book, soaking in the sunshine, playing soccer, and disconnecting from her phone. Date night can be takeout on the couch, patio beers out, or a new restaurant we haven’t tried before. We love gushing over how much we love our dogs and taking trips to the lakehouse.
